Mountain Lion Snatches Dog From Calif. Bedroom

A Pescadero woman and her teenage daughter were awoken early Monday morning by a mountain lion that entered their bedroom and snatched their family pet from the foot of their bed, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

"This bedroom has French doors that were partially left open to let their dog out", the sheriff's office said in a news release.

"That's when I saw what I thought was our bigger dog walking in", Fought tells NBC Bay Area.

Fought said she woke up Monday to the sound of the dog barking aggressively when she saw the shadow of a large animal enter the room and take the dog from the bed.

The woman immediately called 911 and responders found large paw prints both outside in the dirt and indoors where she said she spotted the cat, Zuno said.

The woman and her child live in the small town of Pescadero, Calif., where encounters with the animals are common.

Following the incident, Fought said she's said she is going to take further measures to protect herself and her daughter. Instead, she noticed its walk and size, which led her to believe that the dog had been snatched.

No pardon for Kulbhushan Jadhav, says Nawaz Sharif
About his fake passport and identity, Baglay said, "We can not ascertain anything since we did not have any consular access. A Field General Court Martial awarded the death sentence to Jadhav and Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa confirmed it.

Rarely, however, do they make it all the way into a house, sheriff's spokesman Salvador Zuno told the Los Angeles Times. "We notified the California Department of Fish and Wildlife for any necessary follow up investigation". Blood stains on the door step are the only signs left behind by the intruder.

At the Los Angeles Zoo, a koala wasn't so lucky.

The newspaper reports it's still too early to confirm whether the animal was indeed a mountain lion.

But even in Pescadero, Zuno said, this sighting of an apparent mountain lion is rare.

Yovovich advised that "keeping pets and livestock in a fenced pen is not effective as mountain lions are skilled climbers and can scale almost any kind of fence". In March 2016, zookeepers found a koala's bloody remains outside the animals' enclosure.

Neighbors are being warned to be especially wary of mountain lions in this area, as this one showed the will go just about anywhere to find its prey.
