"Frozen 2" Disney announces release date of sequel

So, will the behind-the-scenes players of the royal sisters return to their roles in the sequel?

Levy previously played Fantine in the 2014 Broadway production of Les Misérables and has performed in Ghost, Hairspray, Wicked and First Daughter Suite. Now the songwriting duo are busy on the Frozen Broadway adaptation, expected to premiere before Frozen 2, in spring 2018. In the meantime, a stage version will open in Denver in the USA this August before moving to Broadway in spring 2018, and no doubt it will transfer to London soon after.

Frozen stars Kristen Bell (Anna), Idina Menzel (Elsa), Jonathan Groff (Kristoff), Josh Gad (Olaf), Santino Fontana (Hans), Alan Tudyk (Duke), Ciaran Hinds (Pabbie/Grandpa), Chris Williams (Oaken), Stephen J. Anderson (Kai), Maia Wilson (Bulda), Edie McClurg (Gerda), Robert Pine (Bishop), Maurice LaMarche (King), Livvy Stubenrauch (Young Anna), and Eva Bella (Young Elsa).

The news of the release dates come our way via The Wall Street Journal's Ben Fritz, who shared the updates on Twitter.

What we don't know is whether or not delightful songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez will return. As many songs that are in the movie, we've doubled it, and then there are reprises. This is due to the fact that other competitors can make use of this schedule in order to find the right timing for their own releases so as to not be overshadowed by the upcoming Disney films which have their own large followings.

Disney has been on a remake streak of their classics with their latest success from the live-action "Beauty and the Beast" hitting more than $1 billion in sales worldwide. Two more untitled animated features are set to release on June 18, 2021, and November 24, 2021, which will be created by Disney and Pixar, respectively.

The announcement officially confirms that Frozen 2 will fill one of the slate's "Untitled Disney Animation" slots.

Important news for fellow parents of Frozen-obsessed children, who legitimately hear "Let It Go" playing in their minds in a silent room (just me?): Frozen 2 finally has a release date.

And now, the House of Mouse has revealed them - and it turns out we'll be seeing the final chapter in the new trilogy even sooner than we expected. It was first released in 1994, but it was just as successful as Frozen in its day, finishing its theatrical run as the second-highest-grossing movie of all-time.
