'Dynasty' Reboot, Military Drama 'Valor' Land Series Orders at CW

Written by Kyle Jarrow, in "Valor", the boundaries between military discipline and human desire are tested on a US Army base that houses an elite unit of helicopter pilots trained to perform clandestine worldwide and domestic missions.

Despite the different time period, though, the reboot will have the same basic premise as the original series, following two of America's wealthiest families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, as they feud for control over their fortune and their children. And if you think that Schwartz and Savage could easily multi-task with two shows - we really want the Gossip Girl reboot, OK! - they're already doing that, as they're the masterminds behind Runaways, the new Marvel series from Hulu. "The show will make its modern-day return to The CW during the 2017-2018 season with Victorious" Elizabeth Gillies as the famed Fallon Carrington and The Vampire Diaries' Nathalie Kelley as her mother, Crystal Jennings. It is just one of several new pilots said to be receiving series orders from the CW this season.

The news of "Dynasty's" pickup comes as networks prepare to present their fall lineups to advertisers in NY as part of the annual Upfronts.

Islamic State Chief in Afghanistan Killed
Since March, U.S. and Afghan special forces, backed by airstrikes, have been fighting to eradicate ISIS-K, primarily in Nangarhar. The target of the attack was ISIS leader Sheikh Abdul Hasib, whose death was confirmed on Sunday, according to ABC News .

Schwartz and Savage executive produce through their Fake Empire banner alongside Patrick and the Shapiros. Lis Rowinski is set as a co-exec producer.

A miniseries, "Dynasty: The Reunion", aired in 1991 to tie up loose ends following the series' abrupt cancellation.

Though the original Dynasty's producers have signed on for this project, there's no word if icons like Joan Collins and Diahann Carroll will be reprising their roles. It finished in the primetime top 10 from 1982-86 and was the No. 1 show of the 1984-85 season, edging rival Dallas on CBS.
