Hasan Minhaj Celebrates White House Correspondents' Dinner Victory on 'Daily Show'

Minhaj took on the president's dire social media usage.

The annual event, organized by officials at the White House Correspondents' Association to toast the work of political journalists, is typically attended by the Commander-in-Chief, who is usually roasted by the host, but Trump previously announced he would be skipping the bash.

Meanwhile in Washington D.C., comedian Hasan Minhaj - who was hosting the event - roasted Trump in a scorching 25-minute speech.

"We gotta address the elephant that's not in the room". And that's because he lives in Moscow.

"We are not going to let other countries take advantage of us anymore", he said Saturday in Harrisburg at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center. "Trump's actions speak much louder than his words, and it is abundantly clear that we can not trust our president's word", Pa. Dems Chairman Marcel Groen said in a release before the event.

"No one wanted to do this, so of course it lands in the hands of an immigrant", said Minhaj, who is Indian-American.

"I am truly honored to be here, even though King Joffrey is President, and it feels like the Red Wedding in here", Minhaj said.

The missile, launched near the city of Kusong, flew 700 kilometers (435 miles), the South Korean military said. The missile launch comes amid claims claims from Kim Jong-Un's spokesmen that he is willing to talk to the US.

Last year, Obama set social media alight when he made fun of his relationship with Joe Biden and declared "Obama out" before dropping the microphone, blowing the crowd a kiss and walking off the stage.

CNN commentator Van Jones said Trump missed a good opportunity to rally his base at the correspondents' dinner. The nearly-hour long speech began with attacks on the press and covered his tax plan, jobs, the yet-to-be-built wall, trade and other topics Trump had touted throughout his 2016 campaign.

However, this year's White House Correspondents' Dinner was a tad bit different. How?

Trump, whose VP Mike Pence also ditched the event, used the opportunity to criticise the press.

"You know, he could keep beating on us, but he has a 38 percent to 44 percent approval rating which is at a historic low and it's time to kind of put up", he continued. "Donald Trump. Because it's 10 Russian Federation; those are business hours".

"As you can see", Ferrell said in character, "I've exhausted my palette of yellow and oranges".

Last night was both the 2017 White House Correspondents' Dinner - which Trump, in characteristically childish fashion, chose to skip. So that's why you've got to be on your A-game, 'cause when one of you messes up, he blames your entire group.
