Substitute press briefer Sarah Huckabee Sanders struggles with impossible job

The US president's press secretary has taken issue with reports that he hid from media "in" White House bushes. "Spicer any different than we treat any other reservist", said another military official at the Pentagon.

Trump's claim that it is for the sake of "accuracy", is simply a convenient misdirection. By now we should know that inconsistency is pretty much the only consistent theme at the White House.

Sanders is filling in for Spicer this week as he attends to his duties with the Navy Reserve, which the White House said were "previously scheduled".

During Donald Trump's interview with Fox's Jeanine Pirro, the president was asked about whether he would allow for an independent investigation in order to establish that his 2016 campaign did not collude with Russian Federation.

A correction was appended to the bottom of the Post story on Wednesday night that read, "This story has been updated to more precisely describe White House press secretary Sean Spicer's location late Tuesday night in the minutes before he briefed reporters".

Trump revealed classified info to Russians at White House
Intervening in a live probe "is incompatible with democratic safeguards", ACLU national security director Hina Shamsi said Monday. While McMaster and Tillerson rejected the report, Powell issued the most outright denial of the story.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders is the daughter of former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, and her earliest political experience came when she worked for her father.

If Trump were to succeed in slamming shut that long-established door, it would be yet another dark step toward authoritarianism and a suppressed, in-the-dark press.

"If the President has "tapes" of his conversations with Director Comey, it is because the president himself made them", Schiff said in a statement. As I've said before, if I worked in the White House I'd be looking for a way to disable the president's Twitter account. You know, "in", "out", "around", "by", "among", etc. "I call on Speaker Paul Ryan to immediately appoint a bipartisan, non-classified, public and transparent commission to investigate the Trump-Russia relationship", Democratic Rep. Steve Cohen tweeted.

Asked how he was holding up amid the tumult, he told a Wall Street Journal reporter he was doing "awesome". I'll give you an example. "I am answering more questions about him than I am about Syria or North Korea", said one military official.

While Trump went on to offer praise for deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who has handled press briefings during a chaotic week at the White House, he appeared frustrated with the performance of his top spokesman, Sean Spicer. The fickle nature of the job was evident in the briefing room Wednesday after Sanders high stakes post-Comey briefing went well. "She does a great job", the official said.
