Americans divided over Trump's firing of Federal Bureau of Investigation chief

David Axelrod, former guru to President Barack Obama, summed up the problem when he told the New York Times, "The most hazardous duty in Washington these days is that of a Trump surrogate".

Johnson said he also has confidence in the Senate Intelligence committee, which is also investigating possible ties. "According to a close associate of Mr. Comey, he is willing to testify, but wants it to be in public", wrote Peter Baker and Michael D. Shear.

While Vice President Mike Pence and others tried to curb speculations that the decision was related to the Russian Federation probe, Trump said Thursday that the "Russia thing" was on his mind.

Clapper said America's founding fathers had created three co-equal branches of government with checks and balances, but with Trump as president, that was now "under assault and is eroding".

WikiLeaks made its offer on its Twitter site Friday after Trump warned in a tweet that Comey had "better hope" that the president didn't have tapes of their dinner meeting. In July, Trump accused Comey of going too easy on Hillary Clinton when the Federal Bureau of Investigation director announced the agency would not file charges against her for using a home-brew server for her classified communications as secretary of state.

Next, Trump said that "this thing with Russian Federation is a made-up story", nearly an explicit admission that Comey was sacked because Trump wanted an end to the FBI's investigation of Russia's interference in the U.

Spicer was back to answering questions Friday about Comey's firing.

He then appeared to contradict himself in an interview with NBC saying that he was always going to fire Comey regardless of the advice of his legal advisors.

Closer medical watch of tens of hunger-striking Palestinians
Over the last several years, India has also moved closer to the U.S. , seen as an ally of Israel. PM Modi yesterday had assured Abbas of India's "unwavering support" to the Palestinian cause.

In an interview with Fox News Channel's Jeannine Pirro set to air Saturday, Trump suggested eliminating the daily briefings and instead having one every two weeks - conducted by him.

Spicer said Trump's "robust schedule" means that "sometimes we don't get an opportunity to get in to see him and get his full thinking".

"Let's say I did it on January 20, the opening, right?"

Trump abruptly fired Comey on Tuesday and later said Comey was a "showboat" and "grandstander" who was not doing a good job. That is, there is no way the Rosenstein memo was the catalyst for Comey's dismissal. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.).

"We need to have all the facts, and it is appropriate for the House Oversight Committee to request this memo", Ryan spokeswoman AshLee Strong said in a statement.

Newt Gingrich: "The challenge they have is that the president sometimes moves so rapidly that they don't get a team around that gets it organized", Gingrich told AP.

As in Friday's briefing, Spicer refused to commit when asked if the White House would keep the daily briefing. He did not interview Saturday, but his name is on the list of people Trump is considering.
