Security forces looking for militants in the Heff-Shirmal area of Shopian in South Kashmir were again attacked by stone pelters Wednesday morning.

The government has already given the Army and the Border Security Force (BSF) a free hand to respond to any "misadventure" from across the borders, the sources here said. During the meeting, which was also attended by Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, the Defence Minister was given a detailed briefing about the situation in hinterland and on LoC and IB, where Pakistani troops are violating ceasefire nearly daily after the mutilation of bodies of two Indian soldiers on LoC in Poonch district.

Army chief General Bipin Rawat was forced recently to publicly threaten to treat locals disrupting operations by security forces as "overground terrorists".

The Defence Minister advanced his visit by a day since he was otherwise scheduled to chair the two-day long Goods and Services Tax (GST) council meeting beginning in Srinagar on Thursday.

"The Defence minister was apprised of the various measures to strengthen the robust counter infiltration grid along the LoC".

Arsene Wenger: The Premier League's morals have changed
But he conceded the uncertainty over the manager's future at the club is hanging over the squad. Saturday's 4-1 hammering of Stoke City made it three wins on the trot for Arsenal .

However, Mr Jaitley has urged all to ensure safety of the innocent people while dealing with the inimical elements.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today met Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti here and discussed various issues pertaining to the state, including funds flow under the Prime Ministers Development Plan.

Jaitley and Rawat's Kashmir visit comes in the wake of beheading of two Indian security personnel by Pakistani military in Poonch district earlier this month which was termed "barbaric" by India.

They said a total of 27 militants were killed between January and April in counter-insurgency operations.
