Man fights child neglect charge for drinking at Disney World

An Ohio father is accused of child neglect after authorities say he went on a drunken rampage at a Walt Disney World resort while his young son suffered first-degree burns from the sun. She says her husband disputes accusations that he charged at people with a stroller and used racial slurs.

Disney resort managers said they received at least 11 complaints about Olmstead over the course of four hours.

According to an incident report from the Orange County Sheriff's Office, Olmstead, who was apparently visiting Central Florida for his daughter's cheerleading competition at ESPN Wide World of Sports, was visibly intoxicated while caring for his infant son, Blake, at their resort.

Disney World isn't always the happiest place on Earth.

Witnesses reportedly told police Olmstead sat at a poolside bar with his young son in a stroller next to him and "drank himself into 'a state of intoxication, '" WKMG reports.

Olmstead's wife said they were at the ESPN World of Sports when Olmstead chose to take their toddler back to the resort at about 3:30 rest and get out of the sun, according to the report.

A staff member escorted Olmstead back to his hotel room, but he returned and refused to leave the food court.

The toddler was badly sunburned throughout the day and was found sitting in its stroller with a soiled diaper, according to CBS 12.

According to court records, Olmstead has been arrested on DUI, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct in Ohio.

Olmstead was booked on a child neglect charge, and posted $2,200 bond late Monday night. Along the way, the deputy driving him said he repeatedly threatened police and said President Donald Trump would kill the officer, per WKMG.
