Ransomware attacks leads to closure of many ATM's in Vizag

A blog post written by the group promised from June to release tools every month to anyone willing to pay for access to some of the tech world's biggest commercial secrets. It turns out, this ransomware made use of a flaw that the NSA had been holding in its back pocket for years, causing Microsoft to speak out against government agencies "hoarding" security vulnerabilities for their own uses, while also pointing out that customers need to stay on top of updates to remain secure. Though the Shadow Brokers' online statement did not mention any other tech industry product by name, there was mention of threats to dump data from banks using the SWIFT global money transfer network and to dump data from Russian, Chinese, Iranian or North Korean nuclear and missile programs.

WannaCry exploits a Windows vulnerability codenamed EternalBlue, which has been patched by Microsoft in an update deployed on March 14. Given the rise of ransomware attacks, cyber insurance is more important than ever. The government has not publicly acknowledged that the NSA developed the tool. The US government has not commented directly on the matter.

Both Symantec and Kaspersky said it was too early to tell whether North Korea was involved in the attacks, based on the evidence that was published on Twitter by Google security researcher Neel Mehta.

Conservative Prime Minister Theresa May and NHS Digital stated they were not aware of any compromise in patient records resulting from the attack, however Home Secretary Amber Rudd later refused to confirm concretely if patient data had been backed up, in a statement confirming the NHS would finally upgrade its software in the wake of WannaCry.

Cannes 2017: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan leaves for Cannes with daughter Aaradhya
How sweet, no? Aishwarya kept it comfy as she wore a light blue top and jeans along with a long brown overcoat. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is all set to walk the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival on May 19 and 20.

Uttar Pradesh Police, on May 16, issued a set of measures asking organisations to comply with them in order to protect themselves from the ongoing cyber attack.

The largest gainers from the WannaCry attack were Mimecast (MIME), Sophos Group (SOPH), Proof Point (PFPT) and FireEye (FEYE).

In China, foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said she had no information to share, when asked about the origin of the attack and whether North Korea might be connected. It did not name any of the entities.

Vu Ngoc Son, deputy head of the anti-malware department of Bkav Corporation, the largest internet security firm in Vietnam, said that the WannaCry ransomware's behaviour is "not new", but he believes that the use of this ransomware will not really ease up as "it can directly earn large profits for hackers". It began in Europe, affected computers in more than 150 countries, and was hitting locations in Japan and China as recent as Monday.
