Raw: Oklahoma Tornado Kills At Least One Person

In Oklahoma, another tornado damaged much of a subdivision on the southern fringe of Elk City. Then he saw a funnel cloud and ran inside. "I was one of those people who thought, 'Ah, it won't happen to me.' But never again".

With more storms possible, Pritchard says the next 48 hours could hinder relief effort in Barron County.

Gary Schulz, who owns a rental storage business near the Prairie Lake Estate Mobile Home Park, said a twister claimed his business eight years ago but spared it this time around. And he said, to his knowledge, no injures have been reported outside of the trailer park area.

"The damage is gut-wrenching", he said.

He said most of the damage is concentrated at a trailer park and turkey barns. "It was just people searching for family members, for their pets, belongings", Schulz said of the aftermath.

Tod Pritchard, a state Emergency Management spokesman, said there also was a report of a tornado in Rusk County. Another was reported by firefighters about 11 miles north-northeast of Madge in Harmon County, he said.

In eastern Nebraska, winds damaged homes, farms and businesses and left thousands of people without electricity.

The tornados were part of a system of severe storms that rolled through the northern Chippewa Valley Tuesday evening.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs, the National Weather Service will send Damage Survey Teams to the area on Wednesday morning to assess the locations, strengths and numbers of tornadoes. Parts of northwestern Wisconsin are expected to receive heavy rain Wednesday.

"There is definitely the potential for all the severe weather hazards", including tornadoes and hail, Hultquist said.

Fitzgerald said local and state officials are calling it a tornado, but that hasn't been confirmed by the National Weather Service, he said.
