Sanchez Scores As Gunners Close On Top 4

Arsenal have won both of their games since losing 2-0 at White Hart Lane last month and now find themselves fifth, three points off the top four with as many games remaining in their season.

Victory took Arsene Wenger's side above Manchester United into fifth place and left them three points below Manchester City, who occupy the fourth and final Champions League qualifying berth.

AFP | Alexis Sanchez scored his 20th goal of the Premier League campaign as Arsenal won 2-0 at Southampton on Wednesday to keep their hopes of a top-four finish alive.

"We shot ourselves in the foot against Tottenham and we are aware we need to win all the remaining games to be in the race".

"It was tough in the first half but then we found the opening and deserved to win".

That was until the Arsenal three-man defence conspired to play both Dusan Tadic and Gabbiadini onside, with the latter seeing an effort well saved by Petr Cech.

Olivier Giroud - just on as a substitute - added the second goal in the 83rd, heading home after Sanchez's cross was helped back into the middle by Aaron Ramsey.

"He scores important goals". He's creative, not phased by anything, and he surprised everyone in the stadium tonight with his goal. It's a good opportunity to show your character, how you come back and how you recover. Let's not go too quickly to conclusions, and focus and give everything at Stoke on Saturday.
