Starbucks Selling Coffee Ice Cubes In Two Cities

With summer right around the corner, many of us are trading in our classic morning java for a refreshing iced coffee.

Baristas on Reddit have started discussing making drinks with coffee ice, which are essentially frozen cubes of coffee that cool your beverage just like ice cubes. To remedy that untasty situation, Starbucks is testing ice cubes made of coffee. For 80 cents, customers can add ice that has been made from Starbucks coffee to iced espresso or brewed coffee beverages at the participating stores, according to ABC News.

Starbucks spokesperson Holly Shafer told ABC News that the roll out is a "very small test" that includes just 100 stores of the almost 25,000 Starbucks in the country.

Now, the company is quietly testing out another idea championed by some smaller shops: coffee ice cubes. There's nothing more annoying than getting a delicious cup of iced coffee that melts the second you sit down in the sun. Yes please. Swapping out regular ice in Frappuccinos for coffee ice?
