Angela Bassett Joins The Cast Of Mission: Impossible 6

Deadline is reporting and director Chris McQuarrie has confirmed that Academy Award-nominated actress Angela Bassett has joined the cast of Paramount's highly anticipated action sequel Mission: Impossible 6.

Bassett is a regular on Ryan Murphy's anthology series America Horror Story and will work with the prolific TV producer on the upcoming procedural drama 911.

According to Deadline, Bassett will play the role of a Central Intelligence Agency director in the spy franchise.

The film, now under production, will also feature Henry Cavill, Rebecca Ferguson and Alec Baldwin. The Golden Globe-winning actress will play Ethan Hunt's (Tom Cruise) new Central Intelligence Agency director, though the character's name hasn't yet been revealed.

Mission: Impossible 6 already has a cool enough cast that it doesn't need to go around snatching up badasses anymore.

Bassett's character will take over the position once filled by Baldwin's character Alan Hunley, as he is now Secretary of the Impossible Mission Force following the events of Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation. She'll also star in Disney and Marvel's Black Panther as T'Challa's stepmother, Ramonda.
