Asensio, Deulofeu and Illarramendi named in Spain squad

Lopetegui selected an experienced squad, mainly made up of players from Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, while talented youngsters such as Arsenal's Hector Bellerin will represent Spain at the U21 UEFA European Championship.

Spain will face Colombia in the 7th of June in a friendly game in Murcia.

Deulofeu has been rewarded for his performance in the 2-0 win over France in a friendly in March when he scored his first worldwide goal.

Asensio, Deulofeu and goalkeeper Keka will join up with Spain's U21 squad at the European Championship once the senior team's two matches are completed.

The 21-year-old, who has already played twice for Julen Lopetegui's side, is one of six Real Madrid players in the squad, alongside Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Nacho, Isco and Alvaro Morata.

Real Sociedad midfielder Asier Illarramendi is also included, as is Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa.

Spain's senior matches are due to take place on June 7 and 11, before the Under-21s tournament kicks off on June 16.

Herrera was handed his first call up to the national team in October past year following an impressive start to the season with Manchester United.

Manchester United's Juan Mata, who has recently returned to action following groin surgery, was also omitted.

Forwards: Iago Aspas (Celta Vigo), Diego Costa (Chelsea), Gerard Deulofeu (AC Milan, on loan from Everton), Alvaro Morata (Real Madrid).

Spain regulars David de Gea, Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, Andres Iniesta and David Silva are all present and Asier Illarramendi could make his first ever Spain appearance after featuring heavily for the country's youth sides.
