'Grey's Anatomy' Creator Shonda Rhimes Speaks Out on Jerrika Hinton's Departure

As fans saw in the explosive finale of season 13, Jerrika's character Dr. Stephanie Edwards managed to survive the explosion that raged through Grey Sloan Memorial but decided it was time to leave the hospital for good.

In the finale, Stephanie survived the initial explosion that had Grey Sloan Memorial in chaos as her fellow doctors scrambled to find her and save their patients.

I want to breathe it all in, away from the monitors and the blood and the sterile counts and away from saving other people's lives; I want my own. I look forward to seeing you all in another clearing. And when asked if she'd ever return to the series in maybe a year or two, she replied, "I would say, after the way the episode ends, it would be very hard for Stephanie to practice medicine again in the way that she had become accustomed to". After valiantly saving a little girl's leg and suffering severe burns to her arms and body, Stephanie made the life-changing decision to quit her position as a surgical resident and live life outside the hospital walls.

HollywoodLifers, how do YOU feel about Jerrika leaving Grey's Anatomy?

Hinton's departure wasn't the only monumental change introduced in the finale.

Saudi to sign trade, political deals with US
His planned attendance at Sunday's summit of Arab and Muslim leaders in Riyadh had drawn strong criticism from Washington . According to The Independent , former President Barack Obama sold $60 billon worth of arms to Saudi Arabia .

Meanwhile, Owen Hunt's (Kevin McKidd) sister, Megan (Bridge Regan), has arrived and has caused quite a stir. Still in disbelief that his sister was alive and coming home to Seattle, Owen - with Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) by his side - watched as Megan was placed on a gurney and helicoptered in to Washington, reality setting in that his sister is back. Following an argument between Maggie and Jackson, April turned to McCreary's character and dropped her observation. Apparently, April noticed her ex-husband giving Maggie a look only she would know of (having been married to him and all), and subsequently confronted Maggie about it afterward.

"Jackson, he likes you".

"No, he doesn't. Why would you even...?" a stunned April responded. Will Maggie and Jackson take the romantic plunge next season?

According to ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey, the "Grey's Anatomy" spinoff will be aired in the 207-2018 season, as noted by TV Guide.

"No one can interweave the jeopardy firefighters face in the line of duty with the drama in their personal lives quite like Shonda, and Grey's signature Seattle setting is the ideal backdrop for this exciting spinoff", said ABC president Channing Dungey as part of the official announcement.
