No French Open wildcard for Sharapova

She did not comment about Giudicelli's ruling on Wednesday.

Bernard Giudicelli, President of the French Tennis Federation (FFT) took to Facebook live to announce the main draw and qualifying wildcards for Roland Garros - with Maria Sharapova receiving neither.

"She has complied with the sanction imposed by CAS (the Court of Arbitration for Sport)".

It's certainly not the kind of comeback Maria Sharapova, a five-time Grand Slam victor, who returned to competitive tennis from a 15-month doping ban last month, was hoping for.

"There are no grounds for any member of the TADP to penalise any player beyond the sanctions set forth in the final decisions resolving these matters".

Sharapova, banned after testing positive for heart drug meldonium at the 2016 Australian Open, has had mixed results since re-joining the WTA Tour.

Asked Monday whether she would be disappointed not to receive a wildcard to the second grand slam of the year, she told reporters, "Nothing is a disappointment after being away from the game for 15 months".

The 18-time Grand Slam victor has won the French Open, contested on clay, just once in 2009, and also pulled out of the event a year ago with knee and back injuries.

"I don't think that's right. I respect, and we should respect, the decision that was first taken by the International Tennis Federation's independent tribunal and then considered on appeal by CAS". "It's going to be a very exciting fortnight at Roland Garros", he added.

She won both of her previous matches against Lucic-Baroni, a semifinalist at this year's Australian Open.

Girl choked on fidget spinner part, needed surgery, mom says
A fidget spinner has two or three paddles that can be spun, similar to a fan, which in theory, allows people to relax. When she looked in the rearview mirror, she saw Britton , red-faced with drool pouring from her mouth.

The Russian has accepted wild cards to enter all three of her tournaments since her return, attracting criticism from many players. "I want to thank the tournament for giving me the opportunity to play this special event again".

"While wildcards exist for players returning from injury, there is nothing for a return from a doping ban", he added.

Earlier, four-time champion Novak Djokovic overcame a challenging first set to beat British qualifier Aljaz Bedene 7-6 (2), 6-2.

A lot of people believe the win-win situation would have been a wild-card into the qualifying event, and to let her take her chances.

"Fabio did play some good drop shots, but I wasn't actually making a move or a step towards the ball", Murray said.

That is a matter of opinion: As WTA CEO Steve Simon pointed out Tuesday, tournaments are allowed to award a wild-card invitation to any eligible player, and Sharapova is now eligible to compete.

"He also said", She might be disappointed but I need to protect the game". Or - give her a wild-card to the main draw.

Mladenovic has been on a roll, progressing to the final in Madrid and Stuttgart but losing to Simona Halep and Laura Siegemund respectively in those showdowns.

Former Wimbledon champion Pat Cash hopes the All England Club will not offer her a Wimbledon wildcard.

His victory over Robin Soderling ranks as one of the finest moments of his career, having finally won the only major that had eluded him, completing the career Grand Slam with a victory over the Swede.
