Roger Ailes died of bleeding on the brain

Roger Ailes, the bombastic and controversial founder and CEO of Fox News ousted a year ago in a sexual harassment scandal, has died.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a former Fox News personality and Roger Ailes' friend, is calling the former Fox chief "a genius".

Fox News formally announced news of his passing in an on-air segment on Thursday morning.

The Palm Beach County Medical Examiner's Office says the Fox News Channel founder died of a subdural hematoma - or bleeding on the brain - caused by the fall. With Fox around to amplify their voice, push controversial agendas about hyper patriotism, Muslims, sexuality and political issues near and dear to the right, Ailes fostered the flawless environment for the emergence and elevation of Trump to the nation's highest office. In subsequent years, anchors and guests, including Trump, promoted the false notion that the nation's first black president was a Muslim born in Africa. "Ailes' legacy is that you can actually convince half the country that President Obama was a secret Muslim who wasn't born here".

Bill O'Reilly - Before helping Ailes launch Fox in 1994, O'Reilly was a middling correspondent and anchor for CBS News, ABC News and finally the syndicated tabloid television show "Inside Edition". Republicans now have a 45-seat majority, a swing of 127 seats. The GOP has total control of government in at least 25 states and partial control in 20 others.

It's unclear what factors contributed to Ailes' death.

The Pakistani troops have also started indulging in unprovoked firing along the worldwide border of the Jammu and Samba districts. A BSF man had also suffered minor injury when Pakistani Rangers yesterday violated the ceasefire along the International Border.

"He really did as much as anyone to redefine the Republican Party as a party of cultural populism ... making resentment of the media, resentment of elites, resentment of liberals who were soft on crime and soft on national security central to what the Republican Party was about", Greenberg said. The network eventually unseated CNN as the highest-rated cable news network and became one of the most popular cable networks of all genres, reaching more than 90 million households.

The marriage of politics and entertainment that Ailes orchestrated at Fox became an effective tool for political communication, and one that Trump also deftly put to use in his once improbable bid for the White House.

"Roger Ailes founded one of the most important and successful media outlets in American history".

"Avowedly partisan and ideological news has made it possible for a lot of Americans to opt out of the common discourse and the common fund of information about politics that governed a political life for so long", said Greenberg.

Evangelical leader Reed, a regular Fox guest over the years, offered a more optimistic view: "Whatever one thinks of Fox News, and there are certainly people who don't like it for whatever reason, it is undeniable that it changed the media environment and ensured the conservative viewpoint was consistently and reliably represented". Ailes was the former Fox chairman and CEO of the network until he stepped down amid a sexual harassment scandal last summer.
