Senators want answers from deputy attorney general on Comey firing

White House press secretary Sean Spicer found himself playing defense - yet again - Friday for tweets President Trump sent earlier in the day. Mere days later, Rosenstein penned the memo condemning Comey that President Trump used as justification for his firing. But regardless of whether the timing represents coincidence or intentional obstruction, my gravest concern is the profound chilling effect that the firing may have on the FBI's investigation into the Trump campaign's ties to Russian Federation.

During a Thursday interview with NBC's Lester Holt, Trump said he made the decision to fire Comey on his own, and that he would have done it regardless of what Rosenstein recommended, adding that he had been thinking of "this Russian Federation thing with Trump" when he came to his decision to fire Comey.

Trump unsuccessfully asked for Comey's loyalty again during the dinner, and Comey again declined, The Times said. "I have found Director Comey to be a public servant of the highest order, and his dismissal further confuses an already hard investigation by the Committee".

"Yeah, he is. He is", Trump said, before hedging: "Well, he's doing a good job, but he gets beat up".

What exactly would Comey tell us and the Sentate Intelligence Committee?

When asked whether Trump requested a pledge of loyalty, Spicer said the report wasn't true.

The ousted director has told associates he was summoned to the White House for a one-on-one dinner with Trump just seven days after the January 20 inauguration, according to the paper. Reuters reporter Jeff Mason asked.

Several Twitter replies dismissed the existence of such recordings, characterizing them as empty threats by a president anxious about what Comey himself might have to say about the meeting.

Trump maintains Comey told him that he was not under investigation, but McCabe suggested under questioning that was highly improbable.

The Wizards needed Beal, Wall at their best; only one delivered
Avery Bradley did not have as much of an impact on the offensive end like he had in the previous games, scoring only nine points. Otto Porter Jr . had a postseason career-high 20 points on 6-for-10 shooting and a ideal 8/8 from the charity stripe.

"I don't think that's a threat".

That means this investigation is going to continue, unless a concerted conspiracy to obstruct justice is afoot.

Mr Trump also reiterated his view that reports about collusion with the Russian government are "fabricated".

Trump tweeted Friday morning that "As a very active President with lots of things happening, it is not possible for my surrogates to stand at podium with ideal accuracy!"

He added, "Maybe the best thing to do would be to cancel all future "press briefings" and hand out written responses for the sake of accuracy???"

Contradicting previous White House explanations, President Donald Trump has declared he had planned to fire FBI Director James Comey all along, regardless of whether top Justice Department officials recommended the stunning step.

"I know that I'm not under investigation. Me".

Clapper said his practice is always to defer to the director of the FBI "on whether, when and what to tell me about a counterintelligence investigation".
