Trump Knew Flynn Was Under Investigation Before Hiring Him — NY Times

President Donald Trump knew Michael Flynn was under FBI investigation for his work as a lobbyist for Turkey before he named the retired Army general his national security adviser, The New York Times reported Wednesday night.

Despite knowing of the investigation, Trump appointed Flynn his first national security adviser.

Two individuals cited in The Times' report said Flynn had explained to Trump's team on January 4 that he was being investigated for privately working as a paid lobbyist for Turkey during the 2016 United States presidential election.

US President Donald Trump says a thorough investigation will confirm what he says is already known - that there was no collusion between his presidential campaign and any foreign entity. Another conversation took place two days later, between Flynn's lawyer and lawyers from Trump's transition team.

The number of infections has fallen dramatically since Friday's peak when more than 9000 computers were being hit per hour. But he also said the incident was a "wake-up call" for governments.

He also pledged to never stop fighting for the people and issues that are important to the country's future. Kurdish forces have faced strict opposition from the Turkish government, even being labeled as a terrorist organization, due to their fears of losing territory to the group.

"Don't approve it", Flynn told Rice, according to two former officials cited in a Washington Post report. "We'll make the decision".

The White House on Tuesday sought to tamp down the controversy with national security adviser HR McMaster telling reporters that what the president shared with the Russian officials "was wholly appropriate to that conversation and is consistent with the routine sharing of information between the president and any leaders with whom he's engaged".

His request came in response to media reports disclosing the existence of a memo written by Mr Comey, whom Mr Trump fired last week, alleging that Mr Trump asked him to end the Flynn investigation during a meeting at the White House in February. Comey, who noted the request in a memo, was sacked by Trump on 9 May.
