Aam Aadmi Party "Demonstrates" EVM Tempering During Special Session of Delhi Assembly

NDTV quoted Kejriwal as saying, "He showed how easy it is to hack EVMs and it is being done on a massive scale".

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, AAP Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Saurabh Bhardwaj demanded an all party committee should be formed under the monitoring of the EC to ascertain whether EVMs were hacked in the recently held elections or not.

The Election Commission has called an all party meeting on the raging issue on Friday at its headquarters in New Delhi.

The AAP has raised the pitch about manipulation of EVMs following its drubbing in the recent Punjab and Goa Assembly elections and the Delhi civic polls.

BJP said it will approach the EC seeking a probe into the EVM tampering demonstration.

Dr. Nasim Zaidi urged the political parties to ensure their continuous and qualitative participation at all crucial preparatory steps for elections like FLC, Randomization of EVM/VVPAT/Polling personnel, EVM Preparation/candidate setting, Mock Poll, EVM Sealing etc. CEC also stressed that continuous involvement is the shared responsibility of all the stakeholders including the political parties.

The engineer-turned-politician said he felt it was important to show that EVMs can be manipulated.

In House Briefing, Rod Rosenstein Is Mum on Comey Firing Memo
The Justice Department on Friday distributed prepared remarks that Rosenstein delivered to Congress in separate briefings. The rules also say the Justice Department must report to Congress on the grounds for closing the investigation.

"Very simply put, any "look-alike" machine is just a different gadget, which is manifestly designed and made to function in a "tampered" manner and has no relevance, incidence or bearing on the Commission's EVMs", it said. The EC is also trying out EVM printed slips - called voter-verified paper audit trail or VVPAT - to eliminate possibilities of manipulating results "If it is a prototype, then it is not the same as the EVM used by the commission". The EC will only throw a challenge asking the parties to prove that machines used in the past elections were tampered with, he claimed.

"They informed the Election Commission that they received only Rs 6 crore donation in 2013-14", he alleged.

The all-party meeting convened by the Election Commission to discuss reliability of EVMs today saw a debate over the definition of "hacking".

Bharadwaj undertook a small voting procedure by giving two votes each to every party (AAP, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC) and Samajwadi Party (SP)).

Asking the legislators to give a standing ovation to Bhardwaj's efforts of "proving EVM hacking", Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said this issue was brought to the Assembly because "it is about the country and democracy".

Election Commission of India (ECI) has scheduled an All Political Parties meeting on 12th May 2017 for EVM Issues and other Electoral Reforms. "Paper trail machines should be installed. We are not in favor of EVM that is what we are asking the introduction of ballot papers", Roy said.

The recently released status report by ECI does not mentions any technical loophole which could possibly be explored in order to tamper or hack EVMs.
