Cabrera gives White Sox 2-1 win with 10th-inning RBI double

· The White Sox tied their season-high with 3 home runs (4x, last: 4/29 at DET).

Melky Cabrera doubled in the go-ahead run with two outs in the top of the 10th inning to lift the Chicago White Sox to a 2-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Friday night. Quintana limited the Mariners to one hit in eight innings, the first time in his career he's yielded that few hits in as many frames.

Motter figures to start the final two games this weekend against the White Sox because second baseman Robinson Cano is sidelined until at least Tuesday because of a strained quadriceps muscle.

"It picks you up", Sox manager Rick Renteria said. "He wants this club to win. Again, the guys battled back to put us in a position to potentially come out on top".

The Sox are 0-4 on their 10-game road trip and lost the 10 time in the last 12 games overall.

The White Sox then intentionally walked Jean Segura, who had hit a three-run homer earlier in the game, bringing up Guillermo Heredia as a pinch-hitter for Ben Gamel.

Having lost four straight, the White Sox finally emerged victorious behind eight innings of one-hit ball from Quintana.

"It's the important for us, for all players", Quintana said.

The White Sox got their first run an inning later on Abreu's homer, his eighth, which landed in the upper-deck left field bleachers to tie the game at 1.

Having already shut down the Mariners in the ninth in relief of a brilliant night for starter Jose Quintana, David Robertson threw a flawless 1-2-3 10th to finish off the win. The home run by Segura was the biggest blow to Covey's outing, but the mistake was walking Carlos Ruiz — and his.125 batting average — with two outs on a 3-2 pitch after being ahead in the count.

Mariners reliever Tony Zych (2-1) hit Kevan Smith with a pitch to lead off the 10th.

Trump told Russians firing 'nut job' Comey eased pressure on investigation
White House officials have cited Rosenstein's memo as one of the main justifications for Trump's firing of Comey. This was the same meeting in which Trump revealed previously classified information.

All Servais wanted, he said, was four or five innings from Gaviglio "to keep us in the game, and then we will go from there". "We wanted to score some runs for him".

Not only was Gaviglio the 10th different starter for Seattle this season - the most in the majors - but it was also only the second major-league appearance of his career. Garcia has hit safely in 7 of his last 8 games with 5 multi-hit contests...during this stretch, dating back to May 11, he is batting.406 (13×32) with 5 runs scored, 1 double, 1 home run, 4 RBI, 2 HBP and 1 walk.

"There was some great pitching tonight", Mariners manager Scott Servais said. It was through six, his fastball was at 93, working at about 93 consistently throughout the whole ballgame, which is a little bit better than it had been.

-Yolmer Sanchez singled and drew two walks, giving him the first multi-walk of a major league career that spans across four seasons. So even though he was robbed of individual glory, Quintana was more than happy to see the White Sox losing streak snapped.

The White Sox are a.500 team (8-8) at Guaranteed Rate Field, yet they are 9-14 on the road, with seven consecutive losses.

There were a lot of o-fers in Friday's boxscore, but Motter's 0-for-4 dropped his average to.217 and his on-base percentage to.286.

One hit won't win you many games.

It's tough to win with one hit. Paxton (forearm strain) threw a 25-pitch bullpen on Thursday — all fastballs — and will throw another on Sunday before likely going out on one rehab start in the minors.

"I understand this is a business and teams have got to do what's best for them", said Pelfrey, who is 0-1 with a 4.42 ERA in three career starts against the Mariners.

Quintana has a 2.38 ERA in his last five starts.
