Chelsea's Nemanja Matic emerges as transfer target for Manchester United

JOSE MOURINHO is seeking a reunion with Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic.

However, the belief at Old Trafford is that the Red Devils are unlikely to succeed in their approach for the England worldwide.

I think Matic would be an excellent signing for United if they could pull it off as he'd be the flawless foil for Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera in the middle of the park.

Mourinho is apparently determined to sign a dominant holding midfielder, though. The former Juventus and Italy manager is looking to bring in reinforcements as the Stamford Bridge outfit returns to the Champions League after a year's absence from the competition.

Chelsea proved they aren't afraid to do business with their rivals after selling Juan Mata to United in 2014 so we could see a similar deal for Matic if Conte is open to the idea of selling the midfielder.

Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we'll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe.

The king did not greet Obama at the airport during his final visit to the nation past year . His Saudi speech is aimed at the nations represented at an Arab and Muslim leaders' summit.

José Mourinho is a huge fan of Nemanja Matic, convincing the Chelsea board to re-sign the Serbian midfielder when he took over the Blues in his second spell.

Burnley defender Michael Keane is a £25m target, with Chelsea winger Willian also on Mourinho's radar.

Antonio Conte is willing to part with the Serbian, as he considers AS Roma's Radja Naingollan more suited to his all-action midfield alongside N'Golo Kante.

Carrick is out of contract this summer and despite rumours that Jose Mourinho is considering offering the 35-year-old a one-year extension, the arrival of Dier would make that less of a priority.

Mourinho is desperate to add another holding midfielder to his team who can compliment and get the best out of Paul Pogba, and he sees Matic as the flawless heir to Michael Carrick.
