China ready to boost financial cooperation with Belt and Road participants

All roads will effectively lead to Beijing, as The Australian newspaper noted, with new infrastructure linking China to its neighbours and beyond built by Chinese companies using Chinese loan capital.

China on Monday wrapped up its first "Belt and Road Initiative" forum with the attendance of 29 state leaders and more than 1,000 foreign government representatives.

The Belt and Road Forum has got off to an excellent start, which is a good sign.

Speaking to reporters at the Yanqi Lake resort, the forum venue on the outskirts of Beijing, Mr Xi said that the gathering had sent a "positive message" to the rest of the world.

Latin America was represented at the forum by Argentina and Chile, with both Mauricio Macri and Michelle Bachelet attending the Beijing summit.

According to Xinhua, 68 countries and worldwide organizations signed cooperation deals with China to carry forward the Belt and Road.

"We reached the consensus, set the way forward, and outlined an action plan", Xi told reporters.

Moreover the result of the same will also be declared within 10 days because centres have been formed at sub divisional levels. She further added, "We have requested the board to release the result and a meeting regarding this has been held".

He also said that lending institutions under the initiative, such as the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, should make rigorous analysis of borrowers as any development institution would do.

China " s first worldwide Belt and Road Initiative Forum has concluded here with a consensus on the issue.

That may turn out fine for the United States and the rest of the world - or it may not, since China's aim isn't the free movement of goods, the basis of the US-run trading system of the last half-century.

They noted the challenges faced by the world economy and welcomed the initiative to improve connectivity between Asia and Europe.

The Russian president also said the proposal was timely and important because the plan looks to create "a zone for economic development and mutually beneficial trade between Asia and Europe".

It called on "all parties which have ratified it to fully implement" the Paris climate accord, signed by numerous world leaders, including then-President Barack Obama in 2016.

The foreign ministry also cited concerns about the "unsustainable debt burden" China's partner countries along the route would have to bear.

Germany asked for more transparency. New Delhi chose to skip the meeting due to its sovereignty concerns - China-Pakistan Economic Corridor passes through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
