Family Of Murdered DNC Staffer Tells Investigator To Stop Spreading Lies

"On Friday, the official account of the Russian Embassy in London tweeted: "#WikiLeaks informer Seth Rich murdered in USA but MSM was so busy accusing Russian hackers to take notice".

Wheeler's contract with the Rich family prohibited him from speaking to the press without prior approval from the family, a clause he apparently violated when he spoke to Fox 5 D.C. Monday for a story that quickly went viral on the right.

Meanwhile, a current Federal Bureau of Investigation official and a former one completely discount the Fox News claim that an Federal Bureau of Investigation analysis of a computer belonging to Rich contained thousands of e-mails to and from WikiLeaks.

He eventually "backtracked" in an interview with Fox DC, stating that his previous statements were a "miscommunication".

Butowsky, a former Morgan Stanley executive, said he called people in the Washington area on the family's behalf and found Wheeler, whom he connected with the Riches.

As we've noted, Wheeler is both a vocal Trump supporter and a Fox News analyst and his "investigation" was paid for by a fellow Fox News pundit.

WTTG-TV later walked back its story, noting that Wheeler conceded he had no evidence Rich was in contact with Wikileaks. MacFadyen was a director at WikiLeaks and is a long-time reporter and documentary filmmaker.

Alex Jones of InfoWars was similarly confident of the merits of Wheeler's since-recanted account.

The Swedish Prosecution Authority said in a statement Friday that Marianne Ny "has chose to discontinue the investigation". Ecuador's foreign minister, Guillaume Long, tweeted Friday that Britain "must now grant safe passage" to Assange.

Meanwhile, Rich's death continues to draw speculation from conspiracy theorists, Fox News' Hannity, and right-wing websites.

If true, contacts between Rich and Wikileaks could have disproved claims that Russian Federation was behind the hacking of DNC emails and passing the information onto Wikileaks for publication, in order to harm Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.

Jones declared that "we have federal investigators and others saying they've seen the emails", and Hagmann cited Wheeler's hoax story as proof that Russian Federation never hacked the DNC: "There was no hacking". Assange has refused to confirm nor deny outright that Rich was a source.

A private detective in Washington, D.C., investigating the unsolved murder a year ago of DNC staffer Seth Rich, claims to know who leaked Democrats' emails-and it is not Russian Federation ...

At no point did either Jones or Hagmann mention that Wheeler retracted his remarks, but Hagmann did find the time to hail Wheeler as "a great investigator" and attack Wheeler's critics as the "enemies of the truth".

An attorney representing the family of Rich, who was 27 when he was killed last July, sent a cease and desist letter Friday to Rod Wheeler, a Fox News contributor and former Washington, D.C., homicide detective who was employed by the family and earlier this week told a Fox affiliate that he believed police were covering up details about the crime.

"It made it seem like I knew this information first-hand", he said.

The FoxNews.com story on the case also cited a "federal source" who said the FBI had conducted a forensic analysis of Rich's computer and discovered thousands of emails with Wikileaks.
