Google Launches Android Go for 'Next Billion' Smartphone Users

Android developers have a "huge opportunity" to expand their reach and build their businesses by creating apps with entry-level users in mind, Google said in "The Building for Billions Playbook".

Earlier this week Google held its I/O conference where it showcased some of the the new features it plans to introduce across its wide range of products. "Android Go is not a separate operating system", Sameer Samat, vice president of product management, old media on the sidelines of the Google I/O here in Mountain View.To emphasise his point Samat added that even if a phone runs the "Android Go", the users will get to see that the phone is running Android O.

Well, there is one way to summon Google Assistant hands-free from any screen.

On its new Android, Google has finally changed the way Android devices show notifications. But, Google is continuously making efforts to bring various features to Google Home smart speaker and Google Assistant. Even so, it is clear that Google wants to do a better job when it comes to battery life and an app's battery use in the background, so battery-draining apps like Facebook and Snapchat might not drain as much.

Google will follow up with tips to help appmakers understand their problems and turn their apps around. For instance, when Dias asked "Hey Google, what can you do?" and the device replied saying "I can do lot of things".

So, if we had to guess, the Home app on your smartphone will also need to verify your name and phone number and enable access to your contacts before it can let you start placing calls on Google Home, though that's just speculation.

Plug Power's (PLUG) Outperform Rating Reaffirmed at FBR & Co
Zacks Investment Research downgraded Plug Power from a "hold" rating to a "sell" rating in a report on Wednesday, January 18th. Analysts are forecasting Plug Power report revenue of about $32.87M, versus the $20.46M posted previous year .

Features-wise, Google Home is now clearly ahead of Echo. Users will soon be able to make phone calls using the device, and the HBO Now streaming service, owned by Time Warner Inc, will be integrated as well.

When will Google Home calling be ready? Just look at the list of updates: an overhaul to Messages, new sorting features in Photos, third-party integrations with Siri.

Unlike other Android version, Google is adding machine learning in Android O to make selecting/highlighting easier. And with support for multiple users, it can distinguish your voice from others in your home so you get a more personalized experience.

Google Lens, which will be available in the upcoming Android O and in Google's new VR headset uses image recognition to give you information at whatever you may be looking at.

"Can you open up Google Assistant because you're not good enough?"
