Spicer: Yates as 'Strong Supporter' of Clinton, 'Political Opponent' of Trump

This is risky business that the first choice for National Security Advisor turned out to be a liar in the White House.

WASHINGTON — The Senate intelligence committee subpoenaed former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn for documents related to the panel's investigation into Russia's election meddling.

But McGahn had an odd response.

Today, Sean Spicer fielded multiple questions from a hostile media about whether Sally Yates' concerns about Michael Flynn were handled properly.

"We began our meeting telling him that there had been press accounts of statements from the vice president and others that related conduct Mr. Flynn had been involved in that we knew not to be the truth", Yates said.

During that time, Flynn was the most senior national security official in the West Wing, privy to every intelligence and foreign policy decision and secret, all the while, at risk of being blackmailed by Moscow, according to Yates.

Flynn was sacked by Trump after less than one month on the job. He fired Yates instead.

"Sally Yates came here on the 26th of January", Spicer said.

Yates, a longtime federal prosecutor and Obama administration holdover, was sacked January 31 by Trump after refusing to defend the administration's travel ban.

Worse, if it could be worse, in the days before and after Trump´s inauguration, Flynn was lying to his superiors about the nature of his dialogues with Moscow´s ambassador - and they either didn´t know or didn´t care about the nefariousness of his denials. Pence vouched for Flynn in television interviews, using information he's said came from the national security adviser. Flynn resigned February 13 after being asked to step down.

Three months later, Trump is still blaming Yates, not his mendacious former aide. Yates stated that she has no way of knowing "what, if anything" was done about the matter, and that "If nothing was done, then certainly that would be concerning". But there is so much smoke from the Trump-Russia probe that you can't get near it without a respirator.

The White House downplayed the hearing by pointing out the lack of a smoking gun - a reality that so far has been central to the administration's claims that the Russian Federation story is an invention of Democrats smarting at losing the election.

Director Clapper reiterated what everybody, including the fake media already knows- there is "no evidence" of collusion w/ Russian Federation and Trump. Clapper also said he was unaware there was an FBI investigation into Russian collusion until FBI Director James Comey announced it in March. Clapper said he was not "aware of any instance" of unmasking being used for political purposes.

That was factually incorrect: During the hearing, Clapper did not say that there was no evidence of collusion between Russian Federation and Trump associates.

Trump has said he has no ties to Russian Federation and isn't aware of any involvement by his aides in Moscow's interference in the election. "We're all in the same boat". The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the decision, which led the White House to issue a second order.

But the White House took no action for 18 days, after which Flynn resigned amid reports that he misled Vice President Pence about the call. Would DOJ pursue a criminal case?

The Turkish payments under scrutiny are part of $530,000 worth of lobbying and investigative work that Flynn's company, Flynn Intel Group, performed for a Turkish businessman. And could he see the evidence?
