US stock indexes edge higher in afternoon trading; oil down

Wal-Mart, even with earnings that are a little better than estimates, and even with a revised business plan that is more attractive to current retail conditions, still lacks value. Glassman Wealth Services now owns 1,471 shares of the retailer's stock worth $106,000 after buying an additional 597 shares in the last quarter.

Wal-Mart believes its successful quarter hinged on ongoing efforts to improve and integrate its in-store and e-commerce businesses. Asset Planning Services Ltd. increased its stake in Wal-Mart Stores by 0.7% in the first quarter.

Credit Suisse reiterated an Outperform rating with an $80 price target. Wal-Mart Stores has a 12-month low of $65.28 and a 12-month high of $78.95.

For the quarter ended April 29, Target earned $681 million or $1.23 per share.

05/08/2017 - Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. had its "hold" rating reiterated by analysts at Deutsche Bank. Shares of Wal-Mart rose 1.9 per cent to US$76.56 in mid-morning trading.

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. has a 50 day moving average of 74.53 and a 200 day moving average of 70.82.

The number of shares now held by investors is 3.03 Billion. Store visits rose 1.5 percent. The business had revenue of $116.53 billion during the quarter, compared to analysts' expectations of $117.01 billion. Chicago Equity Partners Llc bought 54,880 shares as the company's stock 0.00%. Asian stocks were mostly lower Friday as investor worries remained about the US political turmoil over an investigation into possible Russian coordination with President Donald Trump's campaign.

During a conference call with analysts and investors, McMillion said the retail giant's online store is now offering 50 million products, up from 10 million previous year. The ex-dividend date of this dividend is Wednesday, December 6th.

Wal-Mart provides a growth figure only for its online business, and does not specify revenue.

The company also posted a Walmart U.S. comparable-store sales increase of 1.4 percent, excluding fuel, spurred by a 1.5 percent traffic increase.

Wal-Mart, like other traditional retailers, has played catch-up to Amazon.com and other online companies.

A number of other equities analysts have also weighed in on the stock.
