Vermont Mayors Coalition, Governor Scott and state and local law enforcement paid tribute to 23 Vermont officers who gave up their life in the line of duty.

And the President said that these men and women are "the Thin Blue Line between civilization and chaos".

The DPS service is one of many events taking place across the country to honor fallen law enforcement officers during National Police Week. In humble appreciation of our hard-working law enforcement officers, Melania and I will light the White House in blue on May 15.

While £2.5 million has already been raised, £4 million is needed for the UK Police Memorial, which will bear the names of more than 1,400 police officers and staff who have died while carrying out their duties.

He argued that the priority of his administration is to keep Americans safe from crime, terrorism and "all enemies, foreign and domestic".

He also urged all Americans to renew their respect towards law officials around the country.
