Donald Trump's wife Melania rejects his affectionate advance

"I'm personally committed to helping Israelis and Palestinians achieve a peace agreement", Trump said.

"In my meeting with my very good friend Benjamin, I can tell you also, that he is reaching for peace".

"I talk every place about her, how great she is, how great you are".

Trump's actions since have left them disappointed, with the embassy remaining in Tel Aviv-at least for now-and the White House seeking to restart peace efforts.

Trump has vowed to do whatever necessary to broker peace between Israel and the Palestinians, dubbing a peace accord "the ultimate deal".

Any leader would face an enormous challenge in seeking to bring the Israelis and Palestinians together for meaningful talks, and Trump's inexperience and domestic political struggles will only add to it.

No matter how besieged President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu feel about the media in their respective countries - Trump calling America an "enemy of the people", Netanyahu declaring war on certain journalists - nothing in the United States or Israel compares to Saudi Arabia or Egypt, of course.

Trump was greeted with an extended standing ovation on Tuesday afternoon by a small audience of Israeli lawmakers and guests at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, and his speech was punctuated by applause.

Rather, previous Democratic and Republican administrations have said Jerusalem's status must be solved through U.S. negotiation. President Trump stressed the deep and longstanding ties between the USA and Israel during a speech in Jerusalem this morning.

Referring to the deal, Trump told the Israeli public on Tuesday, "We not only gave them [the Iranians] a lifeline, we gave them wealth and prosperity". "We must drive out these terrorists from our midst", he stated. They briefly held hands in Saudi Arabia as they entered the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology. He reiterated the Palestinians' demands, including establishing a capital in East Jerusalem, territory Israel claims as well, insisting that "our problem is not with the Jewish religion, it's with the occupation and settlements, and with Israel not recognizing the state of Palestine". But he did not mention what has always been the goal of US diplomacy in the region - a two-state solution to the conflict: Israel and a Palestinian state.

"It is something that I think is, frankly, maybe, not as hard as people have thought over the years", Trump said last month during a meeting with Abbas.

Palestinian officials say they are ready to resume negotiations with Israel that collapsed in 2014, but the road ahead remains challenging. Wearing a black skull cap, he became the first sitting president to visit the Western Wall in Jerusalem's Old City, the most holy site at which Jews can pray.

Trump was warmly welcomed today in Bethlehem by President Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority. -Israeli intelligence cooperation is "terrific".

British Prime Minister Theresa May said the incident was being treated as a terrorist attack, making it the deadliest militant assault in Britain since four British Muslims killed 52 people in suicide bombings on London's transport system in July 2005. Others praised Melania for "joining the resistance" against the Trump administration.

Yet some Israeli officials are less certain of Trump.

Trump's Intel Chief Mum on Pressure to Rebut Russia Evidence - Trump's intelligence chief declined to comment Tuesday on media reports that the president pressured him to publicly deny that evidence existed of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia to influence the 2016 US presidential race.
