House Intelligence Hearing With John Brennan

"We've started out in the hope that the witnesses that we've invited would come in and cooperate voluntarily", he said.

Brennan told the House intelligence committee on Tuesday that Russian Federation has used intermediaries to work with the WikiLeaks anti-secrecy group.

"I think it's safe to say that General Flynn and I didn't see eye-to eye", Christie said at a news conference in Trenton, New Jersey.

Coats and Rogers declined the request, the Post reported.

Former CIA chief Brennan's testimony to the House intelligence committee was the clearest public indication yet of the significance the Russian Federation contacts play in counterintelligence investigations that continue to hang over the White House. "We'd like him to tell his story because he publicly said 'I've got a story to tell.' We're allowing him that opportunity to do it".

"There may a series of cases where we have facts about people having contacts with Russians prior to the campaign and sharing of information that may fall short of legal collusion, but still be factual that we need to report to the American people in terms of our counterintelligence investigation".

Trump himself walked back into the Russia controversy during his visit to Israel, volunteering that he "never mentioned the word or the name Israel" during his recent Oval Office conversation with top Russian diplomats.

Brennan was testifying Tuesday before the House intelligence committee about Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. He said this was cause for concern "because of known Russian efforts to suborn such individuals, and it raised questions in my mind, again, whether or not the Russians were able to gain the cooperation of those individuals".

Former CIA Director John Brennan says he warned Russia against meddling in the presidential election during a call to the head of the Russian intelligence service on August 4.

Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats told a Senate panel Tuesday he would not comment reports that Trump asked Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, as well as the head of the National Security Agency, to publicly deny any collusion.

On Monday, Rep. Elijah Cummings, the senior Democrat on the House oversight committee, cited inconsistencies in Flynn's disclosures to USA investigators during his security clearance review in early 2016.

The Senate Intelligence Committee has announced two new subpoenas against former national security adviser Michael Flynn to compel him to turn over documents related to his contact with the Russians, adding that Flynn risks being held in contempt of Congress if he does not comply with the requests. He said the head of the FSB denied that Russian Federation was meddling, but said he would raise the issue with President Vladimir Putin.

He left his position at the WilmerHale law firm, whose clients include former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, Trump's daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner. The Senate intelligence committee asked Flynn and three other Trump campaign associates for documents, including lists of meetings he had with the Russians during the campaign. FBI investigators are also examining Flynn's Russian contacts as part of their sprawling probe of the Kremlin's campaign to interfere in the 2016 election.
