"Because the majority of people, unlike the media, love us".

He said his visit was aimed at reaffirming "the unshakeable bond between the United States and Israel" and to push forward his effort to revive the long-stalled peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.

Trump pledged to remain supportive to Israel.

Later, Trump said he was "deeply moved" by the experience.

I want you to tell you how much we appreciate the reassertion of USA leadership in the Middle East.

Mr. Trump also reaffirmed the US alliance with Israel, a relationship strained during the Obama administration.

"If Israeli and the Palestinians can make peace, it will begin a process of peace all throughout the Middle East". Trump calls finding an agreement to the seven-decade conflict the "ultimate deal" and appears highly motivated to succeed where his predecessors have failed.

"The firmly committed to keep Iran from developing a nuclear weapon and halting their support of terrorists and militias".

Texas Moves Forward With "Bathroom Bill" Legislation
A stricter measure, more in line with North Carolina's House Bill 2, passed the more conservative state Senate earlier this year. The ACLU of Texas on Sunday said the Texas legislature approved "discriminatory measures against LGBT Texans".

"I think that is possible, for all the reasons you cite, and it isn't just the Iranian threat, although that is the most important ingredient in all of this", Mitchell said.

"This protest comes as a response to the head of terrorism, Trump, and a response to whoever protects the head of terrorism, who describes the resistance of our people to defend their land and resisting against the murderers of their children as terrorism".

"I assure you of our commitment to the two-state solution and to live together with our neighbors in security and peace", Abbas said.

"Respect for all religions is an inherent part of our beliefs", he said.

Hossam Zomlot, an aide to Abbas, told AFP news agency that "if President Trump wants to mediate and leads us to a historic agreement, a major agreement, we are ready to be his partners".

The meeting was followed by a brief press conference after which Trump left Bethlehem to visit the Israel Museum and Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem.

Trump is expected to hold around 40 minutes of talks with Abbas, whom he met at the White House earlier this month, before the two issue separate statements.

"What's happened with Iran has brought numerous parts of the Middle East toward Israel", Trump said in public remarks at a meeting with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin.
