More than 25K child car seats at risk in crashes

Graco Children's Products is recalling 1.9 million infant vehicle seats, bowing to demands from US safety regulators in what is now the largest seat recall in American history.

Graco Children's Products of Atlanta will recall about 25,000 Graco My Ride 65 convertible child restraints, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration said.

The company says the seat webbing might not restrain the child in the event of a crash.

For example, the analysis found that 93 percent of Philly residents can walk to a park within 10 minutes from where they live. Median park size is also larger than average, but only 60 percent of residents live within a 10-minte walk from a park.

The company, the release said, is recalling some "My Ride 65" convertible child safety restraints.

Graco believes that the issue is tied to one batch of sewn webbing and after a meeting with NHTSA determined a recall was needed.

The recall, which is expected to begin July 17, affects models 1871689, 1908152, 1813074, 1872691, 1853478, 1877535, 1813015, and 1794334.
