Trump emphasizes cooperation during first visit to Israel

Iran's foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, advised US President Donald Trump to discuss how to avoid another September 11 attack with the Saudi hosts of his first official visit overseas, Zarif wrote in an editorial published on Sunday.

He called on the Middle-eastern countries to combat Islamic extremism, pointing out that "95 per cent of the victims of terrorist attacks are themselves Muslims".

President Trump is taking advantage of a unique moment in Middle East history by visiting Saudi Arabia and Israel this week, an Israeli government official told CBN News.

B'nai B'rith in a statement issued Sunday evening praised Trump for calling on Arab nations to join in the fight against Islamic terrorism and for "challenging the Arab world to unite in confronting Iran - the largest state sponsor of global terror".

The Emir, earlier in the day, took part along with their Majesties and Highnesses leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member States, heads of delegations and US President Donald Trump in the GCC-US Summit, held at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh.

Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri on Sunday refuted the comments by USA secretary of state Rex Tillerson for urging a policy shift in Tehran's conduct during President Hassan Rouhani's second term. "We hope Europe does not fall into the trap of countries that promote their wrong interpretations of the region", Rouhani was also quoted as saying. But he briefly referred to his upcoming meetings with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. Wearing black skull cap, he became the first sitting president to visit the Western Wall in Jerusalem's Old City, the most holy site at which Jews can pray.

President 'leant on officials to deny any Russian links'
He also described the special counsel investigation into Russian meddling and collusion as a " witch hunt " on Twitter . I don't know where they reside. 'Any political shaping of that intelligence would not be appropriate, ' he said.

For Trump, the visit has been a welcome escape from the crush of controversies that have consumed his administration in recent weeks. Officially, the USA does not recognize Israeli sovereignty over Jerusalem. The demonstrations are meant to draw attention to a month-long hunger strike by hundreds of prisoners being held by Israel and to protest what many Palestinians say is unfair USA support for Israel.

Despite the president's claim, White House aides have tried to play down expectations for significant progress on the peace process during Trump's stop. We believe you're willing.

Mr Trump also thanked Israel's leaders for being committed to achieving peace between Israelis and Palestinians. The President arrives in Tel Aviv Monday.

"If three Abrahamic faiths can join together, then peace in this world is possible, including peace between Israelis and Palestinians", he said.

Trump's speech was touted as a major event-along the lines of a landmark address to the Islamic world by Obama in Cairo in 2009.
