Emotional Manchester United win Europa League final for mourning fans

Jose Mourinho said his side would give up their Europa League trophy if it would bring back the 22 victims of Monday's terror attack in Manchester.

Manchester's Marouane Fellaini holds the trophy after winning 2-0 during the soccer Europa League final between Ajax Amsterdam and Manchester United at the Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, Wednesday, May 24, 2017.

Many United players also payed tribute to those who died in the sickening attack in the immediate aftermath of their historic victory. After the Celta match I was dreaming every day about scoring a goal in the final. Manchester - we won for them.

"Not by finishing second or third or fourth, and we have the honour of going to the Super Cup. People who respect their opponents and exploit their weaknesses".

"It was the victory for pragmatism", Mourinho said, "a victory of the humble people".

After sealing the victory in Europa League, formerly known as UEFA Cup, Man United have joined Ajax, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Juventus in an elite band of teams to have won all three UEFA's major club trophies, namely European Champion Clubs' Cup/Champions League, UEFA Cup/Europa League, and European Cup Winners' Cup.

Mourinho has previously won the Champions League with Porto and Inter Milan as well as claiming league titles in England, Spain and Italy.

Trump's speech from Jerusalem
Apparently, he is not for the idea of their expansion citing they are likely to hinder the search for peace. Trump, meanwhile, told Herzog, the Zionist Union leader: "I am serious about a deal and I am determined".

"That's why yesterday we didn't want to have the press conference because we had to prepare ourselves to do our job and to try to forget events that are obviously much more important than our job".

Few among the United faithful will disagree, but only time will tell if Mourinho and his merry men can attain more and bigger success in the seasons to come.

Paul Pogba, himself coming to terms with the recent death of his father, was wonderful all night and scored United's crucial first goal.

"For all the players, this was the first final", he said. "You have to learn from it". All the players who played today learnt a lot.

Ajax, fielding the youngest starting lineup in a European final, were expected to make a quick start as they did in their 4-1 win over Olympique Lyonnais in their semi-final first leg. "It was all new for them".

"If we can keep this squad together, we will be stronger next season, for sure".

United midfielder Ander Herrera, who picked up the Man of the Match award for bossing the engine room, said: "We performed like a big club - very serious, very smart, against a very good team". We were really, really sad because you think of life and football - you have no choice. At a time when we are grieving for the families that have lost loved ones we have a sport that has bought a little happiness at a hard time... "It's just a football game, just a trophy, but if we can help or support them with this one per cent it's enough for us".
