Salman Abedi 'travelled to Syria and Libya' before carrying out Manchester attack

British police and intelligence agencies arrested three more suspects Wednesday in connection with the Manchester suicide bombing and moved quickly to secure key sites across the country, including Buckingham Palace and the British Parliament at Westminster.

Asked by a reporter whether police had found the "bomb factory", Hopkins replied that police are "carrying out extensive searches against properties across Manchester for bomb making".

In addition to those killed in the concert bombing, Manchester officials raised to 119 the number of people who sought medical treatment after the attack, 20 of them with critical injuries.

Following the attack, the UK's terror threat level was raised to "critical", indicating the security services believe more attacks may be imminent.

Police said they were called at 10:33 pm (2133 GMT) Monday to reports of an explosion at Manchester Arena during a concert by U.S. pop star Ariana Grande, who is popular with teenagers and pre-teens.

Asked if the leaks from USA officials had compromised the ongoing investigation, Rudd said she "wouldn't go that far".

"It wasn't a very lone wolf style attack, because the device clearly was sophisticated", Burnham said. "They arrested the father, and I think the rest of the family kind of disappeared".

The 22-year-old's potential links to Isis militants and recruiters around the world are being probed by investigators attempting to find out how he was able to transport a nail bomb into Manchester Arena and use it to massacre 22 people. Other victims who've been identified range from teenagers to a Polish couple, Angelika and Marcin Klis, who came to the venue to pick up their daughters.

Days after her disappearance, Kurfin became a person of interest and detectives began searching the property they shared together. Authorities indicated that they know Kurfin's current whereabouts and want to talk to him if the skull ends up being Case's.

Members of the public attend a candlelit vigil, to honour the victims of Monday evening's terror attack, at Albert Square. The police said any speculation would be "unhelpful and potentially damaging" to the investigation.

The Manchester attack was the deadliest in Britain since July 2005, when four British Muslim suicide bombers killed 52 people in coordinated attacks on London's transport network.

The U.K.is now at its highest terror threat level for the first time since 2007.

The extra military presence means armed police are freed up to boost security elsewhere in the country.

The British-Libyan community in Manchester condemns in the strongest possible terms the terrorist attack at Manchester Arena on the 22nd May 2017.

In London, police and security is being boosted, the Metropolitan Police Service announced Wednesday.

"I have been very clear with our friends that that should not happen again", she said. "All our work is created to make our city as hostile an environment as possible for terrorists to plan and operate". Military personnel may also be seen at other events over the coming weeks, such as concerts and football matches, working under the command of police officers, May said.

Cheshire Police declined to comment and referred inquiries to Greater Manchester Police. "The approach is based on extensive research into the psychology of criminals and what undermines their activities".
