The changes appeared Thursday afternoon minutes before Zuckerberg was expected to give the address, Business Insider reported.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg, 33, took the stage at Harvard University's 366th commencement ceremony on Thursday, and implored the graduating class of 2017 to create a world where everyone has a sense of goal.

"And this is my story too".

Five years after he ruffled feathers on Wall Street by wearing a hoodie during meetings with prospective Facebook IPO investors, Zuckerberg donned a suit and tie and opened his remarks with a joke at his own expense.

Zuckerberg started Facebook in his Harvard dorm room in 2004. What began as a closed networking site for Harvard students is now a global force with almost 2 billion members.

Zuckerberg's speech on the 381-year-old school's leafy campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts, will not be the first by a successful dropout who has returned to address a graduating class. Steve Jobs, who dropped out of Reed College in OR, gave Stanford's commencement speech in 2005.

In the video, Zuckerberg points out where co-founders Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes lived as well, and where he and his then-girlfriend, now-wife Priscilla Chan would hang out.

But as he was turning Facebook into the behemoth that would eventually make him one of the richest people on Earth, Zuckerberg decided he didn't have time to complete his degree. They have also pledged to give away 99 per cent of their massive wealth.

Gates who left to found Microsoft in 1975, did not receive his honorary degree until 2007.

On Thursday morning, the site's homepage was plastered with articles that seemed to target Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
