Gregg Allman dead at 69


Gregg Allman has died at the age of 69.

Allman was the vocalist in the band, which he founded with late brother Duane.

He and his older brother Duane formed the nucleus of The Allman Brothers Band.

Gregory LeNoir "Gregg" Allman, the legendary co-founder of The Allman Brothers Band, has died, according to a statement on the musician's website.

The Changing of the Guard outside Buckingham Palace was cancelled on Wednesday and parliament suspended all public events. Between Tuesday and Friday, 10 people were arrested "on suspicion of offences contrary to the Terrorism Act".

The father-of-five was married five times, including to the singer Cher - the father of his son Elijah Blue Allman.

Gregg struggled with many health issues over the past several years, but continued to tour with his solo band for his fans.

Allman will be remembered for such hits as "I'm No Angel", "Midnight Rider", "Jessica", and "Whippin' Post". During his lifetime, Allman was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Georgia Music Hall of Fame; he was also awarded multiple Grammys.
