Anxious parents took Manchester bomber Abedi to Libya and confiscated passport

Earlier on Wednesday, three men were arrested after police executed warrants in South Manchester.

The anti-terror force that took Hashim Abedi into custody in Libya said the teenager had confessed that both he and his brother, Salman, were members of the Islamic State (ISIS) group and that he "knew all the details" of the Manchester attack plot.

Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said, without elaborating, that searches of suspects' homes brought "very important" clues in the probe of Monday's bombing at the close of an Ariana Grande show.

May will use a meeting of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation leaders in Brussels on Thursday to speak with Trump about the leaks, according to a United Kingdom government official with knowledge of her plans. We are thankful for the selfless service tonight of Manchester's first responders who rushed towards danger to help save lives.

As more children were named as victims of the massacre, Libyan authorities detained the bomber's father and his brother while police in Britain carried out fresh arrests and raids.

A US law enforcement official later authenticated the photos and said they had been provided by British authorities to American investigators, CNBC reported.

Soldiers will now also be sent to guard large public events.

Several news outlets have revealed the assailant as a British national of Libyan descent, but police officials have declined to provide any further details.

"Salman doesn't belong to any organisation", he said.

Details regarding the name of the alleged bomber, Salman Abedi, were published in USA media before British police released that information to United Kingdom media.

Abedi, also known as Salman Ramadan Abedi, is believed to have travelled to Manchester from London by train before the attack, Reuters reported. His father said he spoke to him around this time and that his son sounded "normal".

"There was a sermon about anti-Daesh", Ramadan said, using the Arabic acronym for the Islamic State group.

"We don't believe in killing innocents".

Abedi also said he was certain his son had not been in Syria.

"This act of cowardice has no place in our religion", said Fawzi Haffar, a trustee at the Didsbury Mosque.

"She expressed the view that the intelligence sharing relationship we have with the U.S. is hugely important and valuable, but that the information that we share should be kept secure", May's spokesman said. "With the threat level [nationwide] being increased to critical, you will be aware that military are supporting policing across the country".

A total of 64 people are being treated in hospital, including 20 in critical care, medical officials said.
