Armed suspect shot and wounded by California deputies

The suspect involved in the shooting had been identified as Dearld Wicker, 41 of Apple Valley and deputies had obtained a warrant for his arrest.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department says the suspect, Dearld Wicker, was armed with a handgun when deputies confronted him Tuesday at a home in Apple Valley.

At least one deputy shot Wicker. Details were not immediately released.

Wicker is suspected of pulling out a weapon and opening fire during an argument with several people outside the Target located at 20288 State Highway 18 on Monday evening, the Los Angeles Times reported. "Wicker fled the location in a black Ford Bronco and remains outstanding", Sheriff's officials said.

The adult male victim was transported to a local hospital and then airlifted to a trauma center with non-life threatening injuries. The victim who was shot outside the target was expected to survive.

Officer-involved shootings several hours apart in Hesperia and Apple Valley are under investigation.
