"TriMet stands together with our community", the agency said in a statement.

Rick John Best, 53, of Happy Valley, Taliesin Myrddin Namkai-Meche, 23, of Southeast Portland, were stabbed to death.

Portland's public buses and trains will stop at noon Friday for a moment of silence to honor Namkai-Meche, Best and Fletcher, the city's TriMet transportation service said. He was released from the hospital Monday.

Prosecutors say the man charged with stabbing three men aboard a Portland light-rail train confessed while in the back seat of a patrol auto after his arrest.

Christian was arraigned on murder charges in Portland on Tuesday. The suspect, Jeremy Joseph Christian, 35, made a first court appearance on charges of aggravated murder and attempted murder Tuesday in a Portland, Oregon courthouse.

Defense attorney Gregory Scholls did not return a call for comment after the hearing.

Authorities say he stabbed three men who tried to stop him from shouting anti-Muslim slurs at two young women.

At least one local Muslim leader invoked Seraw's memory and the vandalism of the Iranian refugee's home when discussing the recent stabbings.

Those involved in the confrontation could not get into the courtroom because all the seats were taken.

Fletcher said he's unsure how to move on after the attack, so he's focusing on trying to get better.

Fletcher, a 21-year-old student at Portland State University and a poet, also stood up to Christian.

I'm writing to you today, Memorial Day, to share my heart after losing my son. Fletcher shoved Christian so hard Christian lost his balance and told him to get off the train, the affidavit said.

"I'm healing. That's what I'm doing".

Whether Glenn Maxwell or Chris Lynn is given the nod for the remaining batting spot is the main outstanding query. If New Zealand are to prevail, much could depend on how Martin Guptill fares at the top of the order.

Court papers state that in the patrol auto, Christian confessed to the murders and said, "I can die a happy man", The Associated Press reported. Fletcher is in a hospital recovering from his injuries.

Destinee Mangum, 16, told CNN affiliate KPTV that she and her friend, who was wearing a hijab, were on the MAX light-rail train Friday when Christian confronted them with several hateful remarks. All three were strangers to each other, and to those they were defending. Two men were killed.

Christian, who police say fatally stabbed two other men who tried to shield young women from an anti-Muslim tirade on a Portland light-rail train Friday, May 26, 2017, makes his initial court appearance in Portland Tuesday, May 30, 2017.

He made repeated outbursts in court. Lawyers for the public defender's office appeared in court on his behalf. The friend was wearing a hijab.

In the patrol auto, Christian can be heard on surveillance video saying he stabbed three people in the neck and that he can "die a happy man", according to court papers.

Christian said he was transient and "does not know the last time he had a permanent address".

In court documents, prosecutors say Christian confessed while in the back seat of a patrol auto after his arrest. "Free speech or die, Portland".

Best's son, Erik, said he considers his father a hero for standing up to Christian on the train, but said "He was a hero long before even he sacrificed himself on the MAX".

Christian has three prior felonies.

Christian, who faces aggravated murder and other charges, didn't enter a plea. He said one of the men on the train kept resisting him, despite his threats. 35-year-old Jeremy Christian was arrested for killing two people and injuring a third.
