You can get a taste of the game's combat in the cinematic trailer above. "We're really happy with the fast, fluid feel of the game and we're looking forward to showing it behind closed doors at E3!". Here, it seems that players will be required to target individual areas of the ogres - the trailer shows one ogre regenerating a recently lost arm - before going in for the kill.

You play a soldier named Avil whose ancient bloodline means you may possess the skills needed to take down this ogre army.

Expect Extinction to release in early 2018 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Iron Galaxy is often associated with fighting games, as it developed the last two seasons of Killer Instinct and the two-button fighter Divekick.

"Extinction is absolutely relentless", said Kraig Kujawa, Game Director at Iron Galaxy.

Deep Story Campaign. Protect the human population across an abundant story campaign, rescuing as many civilians as possible and taking down brutal opponents. Overcoming the challenges posed by the Ravenii will mean making use of both horizontal and vertical traversal mechanics, while also using parkour-inspired wall runs and mid-air vaults.

Interactive Environment. Move freely around a fully destructible environment, and use objects throughout the world to your strategic advantage. Publisher Maximum Games noted that outside of the main story campaign you'll have the ability to create custom battle scenarios which you can then challenge your friends with completing. Extinction will offer its own survival game type called "Extinction Mode" where players fight off a continuous horde of ogres and minions, attacking in waves.

Extinction will allow players to fight monstrous and colossal creatures in an attempt to save humanity from extinction.

Extinction will be released in the first quarter of 2018 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
