California to discuss linking carbon market with China

Trump on Thursday said he would formally withdraw the US from the Paris climate agreement, which includes about 200 nations.

He said Trump's announcement is a symbol to other countries that the U.S.is stepping away from global leadership on the issue of climate change.

"Trump said the deal gives other countries an unfair advantage" over the United States, and allows other polluting countries to continue its greenhouse gas emissions while the U.S.is forced to cut its own.

With Trump's action, the United States will walk away from almost every nation in the world on one of the pressing global issues of the 21st century.

Only Syria and Nicaragua did not sign the deal.

Fighting for the Paris accords is my duty, and that of mayors across the United States, who are standing together in defiance of President Trump's reckless decision.

But no one should pretend that it does not matter when the world's biggest economy rejects an agreement that put unprecedented worldwide support behind ambitious climate action.

The joint statement, the first between the China and the European Union, commits to cutting back on fossil fuels, developing more green technology and helping raise $100 billion a year by 2020 to help poorer countries cut their emissions.

The Democratic governors' new pact commits to that same goal, which requires a 26 to 28 percent reduction in emissions from 2005 levels.

What impact would a USA withdrawal have? But India and China contended that their economies, which are less developed than the US, aren't yet ready to cut emissions in absolute terms.

Someone, for some reason, is already selling 'covfefe' T-shirts
All of this also ignores the fact that Trump did not write "cov fe'fe"-he wrote " covfefe ", which means nothing in any language". Six hours later the president poked fun at the situation, tweeting , "Who can figure out the true meaning of "covfefe"??? ".

Mayors from major cities around the world say they remain committed to the Paris climate accord despite President Donald Trump's decision to pull out of the deal.

In his statement, Peduto also called Pittsburgh an example of why the Paris agreement is good the economy.

"President Trump talked a lot about fairness, and the fact that India and China could keep burning coal and growing, whereas the USA was going to be hampered", she said. That means making smart investments in clean energy development, holding big polluters accountable, and increasing the resilience of critical infrastructure from extreme weather and climate-related impacts. "You can not blame one thing over the last 50 years for causing the climate change", she said.

"Am departing presidential councils".

Truth To Power, the follow-up to the 2006 climate change documentary An Inconvenient Truth, starring former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, will be recut from the original version premiered at Sundance Film Festival in January before it hits theaters in July. It shattered the capstone of his climate change and foreign policy legacy. Some of the greatest change is underway in China, which is rapidly shutting down coal plants and mines and adding solar and wind plants, notwithstanding Trump's shameless lies at the White House about China's supposedly doing nothing.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Ivanka Trump, the president's daughter and adviser, are among those who urged him to stay in the deal.

Among the scientific community, Britain's prestigious Royal Society said Trump's decision would hamper United States innovation in cleaner technology.

Trump continued, "I can not, in good conscience, support a deal that punishes the United States - the world's leader in environmental protection - while imposing no meaningful obligations on the world's leading polluters", Trump said, before singling out China and India. Republican lawmakers have criticized the use of this fund, saying Congress designated the money to prioritize security, human rights and other efforts unrelated to climate change. But global depression is one of the most harmful ways possible to do that - one that would inflict great hardship on the American workers Trump purports to help.

There was also social media criticism from Bette Midler, who called the US leader "Short-sighted". But it also undermines world efforts to combat global warming. For instance, on a per capita basis, the United States in 2015 produced more than double the carbon dioxide emissions of China - and eight times as much as India.
