Paris agreement can not be renegotiated

Captains of industry, corporations and business groups distanced themselves from the White House on Thursday, as many expressed frustration with President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from the Paris climate accord.

With the help of tax credits, wind energy surpassed hydropower as the biggest source of renewable electricity in the U.S. during former President Barack Obama's administration, and the cost of output has steadily declined as technology evolved.

"France believes in you (the US), the world believes in you, but don't be mistaken on climate; there is no plan B because there is no planet B", Macron said.

Vestas' shares traded 2.2 per cent lower at 0834 GMT, underperforming a 0.7 per cent rise in the Danish benchmark index.

The Paris Agreement was adopted by all the world's nations in 2015 because they recognize the vast harm that climate change is already causing and the enormous opportunity that climate action presents.

"This is clearly disappointing, and a setback for America's leadership in the world", ITI President Dean Garfield said in a statement.

Mexican ministers said the world had a "moral imperative" to live up to the commitments made in the Paris climate pact, while Brazil's foreign ministry said it was concerned and disappointed by Washington's move.

"The EU deeply regrets the unilateral decision by the Trump administration", he said in a statement.

"This agreement is less about the climate and more about other countries gaining a financial advantage over the United States", he claimed. "The rest of the world can not let the United States drag it down".
