What time, channel is Cavaliers vs. Warriors Game 1? NBA Playoffs

The Warriors and Cavaliers are meeting in their third consecutive Finals, a matchup many predicted when the season began after Golden State signed Durant in a blockbuster move.

James became the first player to lead an NBA Finals in every major statistical category with 29.7 points, 11.3 rebounds, 8.9 assists, 2.6 steals and 2.3 blocked shots a game past year.

But that didn't stop Golden State - after some tense moments early in the game - from controlling this game nearly from start to finish, slowly but surely extending its lead as the game progressed, taking advantage of a listless Cleveland performance defensively to land the first blow in this clash of heavyweights between two teams meeting in the finals for the third consecutive season.

For starters, it's the first time in National Basketball Association history that the same teams have met in The Finals in three straight years, the Warriors, of course, beating a depleted Cavs team in six games in 2015 and Cleveland coming back from 3-1 down to beat Golden State in seven a year ago. LeBron James won MVP in all six series in which the Cavs came out on top. "You've just got to try and make it tough on them", Durant said.

MyBookie sportsbook opened the Warriors as -6.5-point favorites versus the Cavaliers, while the game's total opened at 226. "They have been the best team in the league the last three years and they have added an incredible player in Kevin Durant".

James is arguably playing the best post-season basketball of his career yet the Warriors are the over-riding favourites to lift their second title in three years.

Talk about great news on the day of the NBA Finals! Most importantly, he must instill an attitude into this year's Warriors team that they have what it takes to finish the fight. With each team having won a previous series, the addition of one player could be what tips the scale away from the Cavs.

NBA Finals Preview: How Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors match up
Swingman Matt Barnes adds more energy off the bench and rookie guard Patrick McCaw has provided another boost. James has called Golden State a "juggernaut" but the Warriors aren't buying all that talk.

Durant joined Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal and Rick Barry in scoring 25 or more points in his first six NBA Finals games, the prior five with Oklahoma City in a 2012 loss to the James-led Miami Heat. On this play, Curry caught James napping on an inbounds play, leading to LeBron falling down and Kevin Durant getting an easy dunk.

Durant though was the story setting the early tone and then finishing up with a solid fourth quarter with a team-high eight in the final frame to quash any thoughts of a Cleveland comeback. I believe the Kyrie Irving/Stephen Curry match up will prove pivotal for the Cleveland given Curry's inability to defeat and Irving's tendency to get hot when he's left to his own devices.

To preface this section, we get it-when you have four superstars in your starting lineup someone is not going to get their piece of the pie. You never truly know how these things will play out, but if each team plays to their maximum efficiency, the Warriors will win. "Going to do everything in my power to attack every game with that perspective".

It's not the same for the Golden State Warriors. It's my first time after 12 years in the league.

Meanwhile, outside of Kyrie Irving (24 points) and Kevin Love (15 points and 21 rebounds), the Cavaliers got next to nothing from anyone else. "So I feel great".

The scene shifts to Cleveland for Games 3 and 4 on June 7 and June 9.
