Champions League final: How the players rated as Real Madrid beat Juventus

Zinedine Zidane's men, particularly star striker Cristiano Ronaldo, showcased their scoring qualities to beat Italy Serie A champions Juventus 4-1, and make Real Madrid the champions of Europe for a record 12th time.

A long-range deflected effort by Casemiro and a neat finish by the irrepressible Ronaldo within four minutes effectively settled one of the most entertaining finals for years, with a late tap-in by substitute Marco Asensio adding the gloss.

Gareth Bale reflected on an "incredible feeling" after Real Madrid dismantled Juventus 4-1 in the Champions League final on Saturday. Ronaldo joined Alfredo Di Stéfano as the only players to score in three European Cup finals.

In the colours of the national team, under the guidance of his former Juve coach Marcello Lippi, Buffon won the World Cup in 2006, making up for the disappointment of missing out on Italy's European Championship success in 2000 due to injury.

Zidane has now won back-to-back Champions Leagues - as well as this season's La Liga title - since he took charge of Real in January 2016. "It was a good choice of mine and my coach and I'm very happy for how I've finished".

Juventus' defeat was the seventh time they had lost in the final - a competition record.

The victory was the twelfth title for Real Madrid in the team's Champions League history.
