Daniel Summerhays takes lead at PGA's Memorial as Jason Dufner collapses

The 40-year-old Dufner led after 36 holes before collapsing spectacularly with a 77 on day three before bouncing back with a final-round 68 which took the 2013 US PGA Championship victor to 13 under.

The Memorial, indeed, was not over despite Jason Dufner shooting a record-breaking 14-under through 36 holes and looking like he was going to run away and hide to become the first player to win the tournament in wire-to-wire fashion.

Fowler started the tournament with a triple bogey on his second hole and he was 3 over through four holes when he turned it around Thursday for a 70.

DUBLIN, Ohio (AP) - Daniel Summerhays managed to walk a relatively straight and narrow path at the Memorial, and it took him to an unlikely position going into the final round.

He made four straight bogeys on the front nine and lost his five-shot lead in five holes.

At least he's still in the game, and he has company.

Summerhays did it with a stellar 4-under 68 on Saturday.

Rickie Fowler is a further shot back after a round of 66, with Jamie Lovemark (69), Jordan Spieth (72) and Justin Thomas (71) all six under on a leaderboard dominated by players from the United States.

Unflustered by his third round and unruffled by two weather delays late in the final round, Dufner won his fifth PGA Tour title and first since the 2016 CareerBuilder Challenge.

Summerhays has led after 54 holes three times on the PGA Tour.

Ariana Grande Ends 'One Love Manchester' With 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow'
British singer Marcus Mumford held a moment of silence before performing at the Manchester benefit concert Sunday. Bell Media kicked off giving today with a $100,000 donation to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund .

Phil Mickelson said he will miss the U.S. Open for the first time in 24 years to attend his oldest daughter's high school graduation in California.

"I'm still in this tournament, a [few] shots back on Sunday", he said.

Tying for second was Fowler and Anirban Lahiri, who vaulted up the leader board thanks to a seven-under 65.

He stuffed his approach on No. 10 to 4 feet and holed a 10-foot birdie putt on the par-3 12th. Ive had two months of playing really good golf and not getting any results.

"He was nothing but class out there", Summerhays said.

"That's going to be important because (Erin Hills) is a very brutally long golf course".

Staring at a pressure-packed 32-foot, 7-inch par putt, Dufner put the ball in the center of the cup. He started his back nine birdie-eagle-birdie-birdie.

Coming off a ninth-place finish at the AT&T Byron Nelson and 12th-place finish at the Dean & Deluca, Kuchar will enter the final 18 holes just threeshots off the pace now that he's at 10 under following a five-under 67. "Making the turn even was good and then I felt comfortable to get a little aggressive on the back". Two putts would guarantee no worse than a playoff, but he only needed one, rolling in the par and letting out a fist pump and smile rarely seen from the 2013 PGA Championship victor.

"I feel like if I wanted to have a chance to win today that I needed to hit it close", he said.
