Bill Cosby accuser denies prior romance with entertainer

Tamara Green, a retired lawyer, claims that Cosby assaulted her in the 1970s.

Andrea Constand walks to the courtroom during Bill Cosby's sexual assault trial at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday.

Mr Cosby has denied all the allegations of sexual assault and rape made against him.

Constand, who was 30 at the time, was at Cosby's Elkins Park home to discuss new professional opportunities.

"The absence of Camille Cosby is noted, usually a person charged with a crime, their spouse comes to show support for them", said attorney Gloria Allred, who represents 33 Cosby accusers.

Cosby, 79, is charged with drugging and violating Constand at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004.

After a series of phone calls, Constand, who was then in her 30s, said the married Cosby began inviting her to dinner at his house and other events.

Under oath, Constand said that Cosby assaulted her after he gave her three blue pills, which he told her were a natural remedy to ease the stress she was feeling because of an upcoming career change.

Constand's mother, Gianna, also testified. She called Cosby, "A Temple friend".

"They were good friends". "D$3 efense attorneys have proof, including Constand's later interviews with police, in which she describes private meals with the entertainer before January 2004 and a visit to his hotel room at a CT casino".

Constand said she returned to his home after the alleged incident to ask him what type of pills he had given her, but claimed he was "evasive", so she left. Another time, she said, he placed his hand on her thigh.

She said she began seeing double.

Prosecutors played a recording of the call, in which Cosby offered to pay for Constand's education. "I wanted guidance and I wanted to protect myself", Constand explained. If convicted, he could face 10 years in prison.

A day after she confronted Bill Cosby in court for the first time, his accuser Andrea Constand faced a challenge from his lawyers.

Constand managed the women's basketball team at Temple, Cosby's alma mater, while he was a high-profile trustee. "This man was a trustee at Temple".

"So in the month and days after the alleged assault, you were calling him with a lot of frequency, weren't you?"

While Cosby's lawyers have always argued that the sex that took place between Constand and Cosby was consensual, Constand's testimony in court on Tuesday paints a very different picture. Attorneys for Cosby are expected to continue their cross-examination of her Wednesday.

Constand has formed an incredible bond with numerous other Cosby accusers. Daughter from "The Cosby Show" stands by comedian at trial " You were sitting by the fire.

"The room was dark, and there was a nice mood in the room, correct?" she said.

"I felt really humiliated and I was really confused", she said after gathering herself together.

"I told them the truth", Constand replied.

Cosby lawyer Angela Agrusa painted what Constand claimed was innocuous friendship as a romance, seeking to create the impression for the jury that she was therefore a romantic partner, not an unwitting victim, in a later sexual encounter. Cosby told her the pills would help her relax, take the edge off.

She said she was never alone with Cosby except for the night of the sexual assault, but she testified earlier they had been alone numerous times. "She was crying. She was telling me, 'Mommy something's going on".

"I was mistaken", she said, unflustered.

More than 50 women have said that Cosby assaulted them, but the statute of limitations has run out in almost all cases.
