Putin, Macron in 'difficult' but 'frank' bilateral talks

Newly elected French President Emmanuel Macron and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, have a whole lot of ground to cover Monday: Between the long-standing conflict in eastern Ukraine, the six-year-old civil war in Syria and their own countries' tattered ties, the Russian president's stop at the Palace of Versailles promises plenty of hard topics for conversation.

Putin has used this opportunity to bring up this issue since western nation has imposed a sanction on Russian Federation after it annexed Crimea in 2014.Both Macron and Putin agreed to revive joint working groups, and to reconvene talks with Germany.

When his camp barred journalists from the two Russian outlets from Macron's headquarters a Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman denounced the move as "outrageous. bare-faced discrimination".

The Kremlin and Russia Today itself have rejected allegations of meddling in the election.

President Putin said that Russian Federation and France are determined to cooperate in resolving the crises in Syria, Ukraine and the Korean Peninsula, as well as to fight terrorism together. "It was an exchange that was extremely frank, direct, with a lot of things that were said". "There is a red line in the form of the use of chemical weapons, and it will be a reason for immediate response", Macron said at a press conference following the talks with Russian President Putin.

The Russian strongman defended hosting Macron's far-right rival Marine Le Pen - seen as the Kremlin's favourite - for a visit during the race, saying he had no cause to deny her request for an audience.

Considering the Warriors had out-scored the Cavs by an average of 12 points in the first two games, the turnaround was impressive. But the most important new member, the team's new superstar, Durant, can identify with what the Warriors went through.

Putin later visited a new Orthodox cathedral complex in central Paris.

Their first meeting since Macron took office provided another test of the Frenchman's diplomatic skills after his memorable vice-grip handshake last week with US President Donald Trump.

Due to the seeming inaction on the part of Russian authorities, many human rights advocates say that other countries must help gay flee Chechnya.

Putin denied that Russian Federation "tried to influence the election at all", the BBC reports. He added that the two had aired their disagreements on a number of subjects.

The presidents' meeting at the 17th-century Palace of Versailles, one of Europe's most opulent royal palaces, came at a time when relations between Paris and Moscow have reached one of their lowest points in decades, largely because of the war in Syria. "It would be odd for us to refuse her", he said.

Macron's government says it backs United Nations -mediated peace talks in Geneva. It was at this elaborate royal manse that Czar Peter the Great paid a visit in 1717, seeking to build a relationship with France. He had been due to attend the inauguration of the cathedral in October, but he cancelled the trip to France after then President Francois Hollande accused Russian Federation of war crimes in Syria and refused to give him a red carpet welcome.
