Bill Cosby's Accuser Takes The Stand In Sexual Assault Trial

Cosby has faced allegations of sexual assault from dozens of women, though Constand's accusation is the only one to lead to criminal charges.

Agrusa attempted to portray as romantic earlier encounters between the two, including a private dinner on Cosby's couch in front of a fire. She was blocked from speaking about the matter until now due to a confidential settlement Constand and Cosby reached in 2006, the Associated Press reported. To learn more about her, here is our Andrea Constand wiki.

"They were good friends". If convicted, he could face up to a decade in prison.

Constand testified that Cosby gave her three blue pills to help her relax during a 2004 visit to his Pennsylvania home.

The 75-year-old attorney says she was baffled because she thought the phone was turned off.

Constand, who was 30 at the time, was at Cosby's Elkins Park home to discuss new professional opportunities. He then apologized to Andrea and her mother, Gianna Constand said.

Cosby is charged with aggravated indecent assault.

In addition to the buildup to the January 2004 night, Agrusa also sought to show that Constand maintained interest in Cosby after the incident, laying out phone records that showed some of the 53 calls the defense says she made to Cosby.

She also said she feared Cosby, 79, would "retaliate" by hurting her or her family.

"She continued to do her job", Constand's lawyer, Dolores Troiani, said outside court. "This man was a trustee at Temple". He invited her to dine with him at his home.

The defense argues that Constand called Cosby 72 times after the night in question. Cosby kept still, looking down at the defense table through most of the morning.

Cosby claims the relationship was consensual. He told a radio station last month that he will not testify, "What people want to say, want you to say, and how they maneuver-yes, I do have lawyers to protect me, "objections, ' 'sustained"-but I just don't want to sit there and have to figure out what I believe is a truthful answer as to whether or not I'm opening a can of something lawyers are scrambling".

"The room was dark, and there was a nice mood in the room, correct?" she said.

WHAT'S NEXT: Defense lawyers will continue their cross-examination of Constand on Wednesday.

"Ma'am I was mistaken, it was 2002", Constand said.

She says Cosby became more flirtatious and suggestive over time, once grabbing her thigh and later attempting to unbutton her trousers. "I said, 'I'm seeing two of you, I'm slurring my words'". She testified she let Cosby know she wasn't interested in his advances. "He was in a white shirt and trousers", Constand said, slightly annoyed. She did not see Cosby before or after the show, she said, but she gave Cosby's aides a gift from her brother.

"So you were coming to meet the man who had assaulted you, and you were bringing him bath salts?" asked Agrusa. They also indicated she called lawyers specializing in civil litigation before reporting the alleged assault to police. She wanted to stop him, she said, but wasn't able to do so.

Some 60 women have come forward to say Cosby sexually violated them, all but destroying his nice-guy image, but the statute of limitations for prosecution had run out in almost every case.

Demonstrating Constand's awareness of Cosby's romantic interest would have little bearing on whether she gave consent during the interaction in question.
