Penguins Take Down Predators To Repeat As Stanley Cup Champions

That is one more than Mario Lemieux - and the Penguins captain is not yet 30 years old.

Pittsburgh's win is the second championship in 18 months for coach Mike Sullivan, who has yet to lose a playoff series since taking over after Mike Johnston was sacked. Game 6 had a Predators' win stamped all over it, from the way the narratives were drawn up to the fight the team had shown all postseason. They had Fleury and then Matt Murray behind them, dominating at least a couple games each series, and high-powered forwards in front of them, making the most of scoring chances even when getting outshot more often than not. Faking left, Sissons shifted right, where Murray got his pad and glove across to make the save. After almost 58 minutes of scoreless skating, the Preds fell just short of the Stanley Cup in a heartbreaking 2-0 defeat.

The Predators trail the series 3-2, and coming off a 6-0 loss at Pittsburgh on Thursday.

The home team decided they have nothing to lose in that situation and they left their goal empty, which was a gift for the Penguins, and another Swedish player, Carl Hagelin set the final result at 13.6 seconds until the end of the game.

Sheary missed just one of a possible 139 games over his four seasons with the Minutemen and played in the last 133 straight. Referee Kevin Pollock lost sight of the puck and whistled down play just before Sissons tipped home the loose puck in the crease. A whistle could be heard blown before the puck entered the net.

Murray - still considered a rookie, no less, despite winning his second title - will have much to digest. The undrafted Gaudreau scored Nashville's game-winning goals in Games 3 and 4 of the Final.

15-year-old arrested in death of 10-year-old Colorado girl
The body is believed to be that of a 10-year-old girl who went missing during a heavy rainstorm in Thornton on Wednesday night. Authorities have not said if the 15-year-old in custody is the same teen who was with Campbell before she went missing.

Game 6 was the first of the series to be won by the road team. They had four power plays in the game, including back-to-back opportunities midway through the second. Not a bad way for Matt Murray to finally shed that rookie title. Murray made a big stop on a shot by Mattias Ekholm followed by a save on Arvidsson.

Last year, the Penguins also clinched the Cup on a Sunday, and the parade was held the following Wednesday.

"Pittsburgh" in the sixth match of the finals of the playoffs of the National Hockey League won the "Nashville" and became the first club since 1998, defended the win in the Stanley Cup. Both teams got great chances, with almost 30 shots apiece.

Jake Guentzel and his jaw-dropping postseason will cost the Penguins a paltry $734,167 in cap space next season, per Cap Friendly. Obviously 1-0 is better than a tight game.

Pittsburgh's offensive troubles have come in Nashville, where they've been outscored 9-2.
